It is interesting how people selectively decide what science they want to believe and not believe.

For example, it was considered heresy (since they supposedly knew) to believe using science that the Earth was not the center of the universe and all planets revolved around the earth. I do not see much disputing this anymore.

It is this "flawed" science that has got us to the moon and every other technology we enjoy. The issue is science has always been intertwined with religion, superstition, money, and power.

Let me clarify what I meant. Using carbon dating to determine the age of the earth is theory.

We can only "theorize" how old the earth is plain and simple that to me is common sense because noone was here to prove it. It's only been proven accurate to a certain point in history. Using it to try and prove the age of the earth beyond that is theory.

You can rest in your faith in smart scientists that discover a method of dating the earth (which by the way is supposedly only accurate up to about 60,000 years according to Wikipedia). All I know is I'll believe the earth is millions of years old when I get a time machine and go back and see it for myself.

Poorboy you can't be serious. Is that your proof of evolution?

The theory of evolution tells us that we evolved out of a pool of goo and you use dogs evolving into domestic animals as your proof that this happened?

I think a more practical question is due you think man and women spontaneously appeared in the Garden of Eden (and other people showed up out of nothing) along with everything else on this planet or do you believe the Garden of Eden was a metaphor.

I read a quote once that said not exactly, but something along the lines of - "I admire those that do not believe in God...that takes a lot of faith"

In a strange way very true! Those that believe in evolution require a lot of faith in themselves to believe what they believe. Consider the alternative...think of the case, regardless of what you believe in, that you're wrong. If Intelligent Design is wrong...and Evolution is right...then you die, your dead...end of story. On the flip side..if those of us that believe in evolution are wrong...and intelliget design is right...oh boy...aren't we in for some S**T!!!!!

I for one have never been able to swallow the religious route...and I'll take my chances with the gloomy outcome before I'll pretend to believe in something that I don't. Besides...who says you can't get to hell, and take it over...
