even more bad luck...

ok so like a week ago i had a post about a cat scratching my hood (i polished it out). but today when i went to school i parked in the lot and got back some ignorant idiot :furious: opened his door and i now have the worst door dings (yes two of them, one looks like a 5 inch crease, and the other larger than a quarter). these are the only dents on my car, and of course i want it immediately fixed. i know detailers cant get out dents but i just want some feedback of what to do. My car is an 02 silver CLS, and i was thinking to take it to my local bodyshop (awesome work) and quote the body work and repaint. im just worried that the color silver wont match. any advice would be greatly appreciated.
 
With how far blending has advanced recently, I would worry about the paint not matching. Body shops, reputable ones anyways, know what they're doing, i wouldnt worry.
 
Did you catch the car that did it? Was it still parked next to you? A quarter size dent can be pulled by a good dent person. But a 5 inch one is another story.

yeah funny story there was still pewter colored paint from the exchange. not only that but his car was parked over the line. but i took down his plates and park # and left my name and number on his windshield, but as i was leaving some officer was pulling over a student so i pulled over and asked for his 2 cents and he told me the campus police might emphasis on might right up a report. but sure enough all they said is "hey cars get door dings that the chance you run while parking in a lot". anyway the idiot eventually called me and i told him i wasnt gonna make a big deal about it, its just that its a shame some people are ignorant enough not to be aware of others public property...and some other words of advice were exchanged as well but thats neither here nor there.
 
Try dentless repair first to see what they can do. Like above if you have to go to a body shop they can match colors! I scratched the back of my new RX8 (red) (getting a dealer sticker off) and they matched the paint perfectly.
 
yup you could have called the cops and ask them file a report. So then you can go to your insurance and have them get his insurance if you need to paint your door.
