Euro Xenons on the S4!

The S4 comes with excellent Xenon headlights but I just replaced them with even brighter European Xenon lights with the City Lights option (the low illumination/glow light that lights up the headlight when just the parking lights are on) and also it has CLEAR side markers. I really like this since it gives my car that cool monochromatic look. (Previously it had a bright orange side marker.) I also covered the lights in Xpel protective film to protect the investment. The install of everything took about 5 hours.

Here is a link to some before and after pictures.

Looking pretty smooth Brad! :xyxthumbs I like it a lot. Does Audi make an Angel Eyes kit like they have for the BMW? That car would look way sweet with those. I'd like to figure out how to get the Integra to have those. lol

those look absolutely stunning!! These are "stock replacements", correct? (meaning they're made by Audi, not some 3rd party manufacturer)

What are angel eyes?

They are these really sweet fiber optic things that go around the head lights. Like this:

Kinda nifty looking, eh?

Why in general, would Audi et al, make different headlights for Europe and the USA, I cannot see (no pun) the sence in it.

Great work Brad

Someone is making those for the Maxima.

Brad,

How is the difference in lighting? I have a set of European headlights on my Jetta and with a high powered relay kit I added, it is like day and night compared to the US DOT's that came with the car.

Lowejackson,

The cars in Europe have a completely different lighting pattern than the US DOT allows the cars here to have...why? No clue aside from old lighting laws that have need serious re-assessing. Good info here: http://lighting.mbz.org/

RedVR6 - that brings up an interesting question: will the cops pull you over and give you a fix-it ticket or similar if you have the euro lights on your car? :nixweiss

Unlikely. I have had the E-Codes on my car for about 3 years now...and have yet to be stopped. I have even gone thru 2 state inspections too with them and there was no mention of my lights. They look the same as stock and without a sharp eye you are not going to notice the difference between the E-Codes and US DOT, other than the lack of the aiming nubby things and city lights, if on.

I get flashed once in a while, which is partly due to the 80/100W bulbs I am running and if I am coming up over a crest of a hill. Otherwise, no issues here.

I don' know if its true or not, but I was told that Europe has brighter head lamps than the US because they aim them lower. Supposedly road signs in Europe are illuminated, but the majority in the US are not. Thus, we aim our headlights higher, and cannot use the same output level of European lamps.

Take it for what its worth. I will try and find that web site again.

This is a good explanation:
