Envious Detailing: AUDI SAVE???

wow eric is using a rotary? whats this world coming to! I'm gonna enjoy this write up!

I know right...LOL

I tried with the PC for the final two polishing steps, and it micromarred the crap out of the paint...with a green uber 5.5" pad and 205, and also with a green uber pad with FPII...the green uber pad has given me issues on the last three cars I have used it on..all black cars too!

but finishing with a rotary proves to be the better choice!!!

time to get back to it!

P.S. I should have just sanded the whole car!!! I know barry would have..LOL

I am eager to see how the edges of the hood (creases near the fenders) come out.

Who used the brillo pad? Owner? Can you disclose their age?

Worst. Sponge. Ever.

break time...I need a lift for these lower/lowish cars I keep getting...makes me appreciate the suvs more and more!!!

The edges are all getting tapes off - every single one of them! I taped from the inside out covering about 1mm from the end of all the seams and edges. No chance of me burning the paint, at least I am erroring on the side of caution!

I just pulled it out in the sun! I was thinking it wasnt coming out as well as it should be, but it looks pretty sweet for the sections I have done! I am just pluging along...

why couldnt this be a toyota...lol. The defects in this car are stupid deep and not wanting to budge! This is going to make me invest in a mirka system by next week!

this is after 3 hits of M105 and a megs 4006 wool pad...still come more to clean up with the next couple polishing steps...

I don't buy this whole friend with the brillo pad... even after a few panels one HAS to see the damage they are doing... In any case good luck with the resto. Looks good so far.

Here is what I am shooting for on the whole car, and why it is/will taking/take so long...

3 hits of 105 and wool pads

1 hit SIP PFW

1 hit SIP megs yellow

1 hit FPII LC blue

AND YES, I AM STARTING TO GET TIRED...WHERE'S MY ROCKSTAR?????

Man.... you're going to be pulling an all-nighter on this one, lol. You're doing an awesome job tho !!!!

ok, my hands hurt, back aches, and I am getting dilusional!!! Time to call it quits for the night! I have a solid 10 hours on the car work time. I have all the sides compounded as best as its going to get. Every section has about 3-4 hits of 105/wool/1500-1700. I am leaving the hood for tomorrow...I dont know what else to try besides air sanding as the hood is the worst part! at least the roof didnt get hit with the brillo pad :lol:lol:lol

time for bed and an early start tomorrow!

WOW! That car is phucd! That last shot in your opening post is like WTF?! Great progress though, Toyotaguy! I'm in Socal too incase you need the extra help, shoot me a PM if need be!

the whole hood is about to get a wetsand with 2500, then 3000. I am not even going to attempt to just compound it. I tried wetsanding a couple of spots and it didnt really seem to help with the deep stuff...just more compounding.

we'll see how it goes...

Holy Cow! This thing should have just gottn a full 1500 grit followed by some 3000 grit wet sand job! And that Stupid Audi CC is like concrete too. i am sorry that you had to go through this my friend! but it will be worth it when that check comes arround

1/2 hood in over 1.5 hours. after 3/4 round of 105, 1500/2500 wet sand and SIP with green uber pad...still have to final polish with FPII and wax it up, but Ill save that for the whole car at the end:

OBVIOUSLY THIS THING ISNT COMING OUT 100%, BUT A REASONABLE 90%. and also along the tape lines I will have to remove and clean up as there is more compounding needed along the edges (first/second pic). Plus some hologramming that will be removed with the final polishing...

AREN'T YOU DONE YET? :nana: lol its about time you do some real work and put down that porter cable! :LOLOL ok chicken legs I'll let you get back to work. lmao Eric I'm just bustin your balls NOW GET BACK TO WORK! and yes I would have sanded it! If you ever need advice on future purchases on sanding call me bro!:hifive:
