Engine Detail

Before we got rid of the 4Runner, I decided to clean the engine pretty well since it had be severely neglected for ~90k miles.

Process:

Slightly warm motor

Simple Green full strength (soak for 3-5 minutes)

Spoke and fender well brush to agitate

Rinse thoroughly

Dry

Dress with Meguiar's Natural Shine and Evercoat Lubri-Shine

nice work ! did you cover or wrap any electrical hoses or simply let the simple green coat everything ? and then splash the water on to rinse ?

For this particular engine, I didn't cover anything, coated everything with Simple Green, and moved the water in quick strokes (never letting it dwell in one spot).

VERY NICE! I'm always amazed at the results of engine details. Looks like my '92 accord is the perfect candidate for one.

How do you avoid shock treatment on the battery? Would water built up on the battery itself cause damage if the positive and negative happaned to connect through water conduction?

Looks awesome Zane!!

Did you just spray the Natural shine all over and let it kinf soak or did you "apply it" to each part and wipe it?

Thanks again, everyone.

I applied most of the Natural Shine with a tire swipe and lightly sprayed a few hard to reach areas.
