Engine Bay Clean..Really Clean

The buick's faster than almost every BMW, other than the M5, M3's are eatten for lunch up to 100mph. :)

Maybe in a straight line. Put the Buick on a track with an M3 and you won't even be eaten for lunch- it would be a light snack.

There are a couple of regals in CA that will run with a M3 around a track. Damn that was a fast regal.

But the Regal can do it for less money. And the insult of being schooled by a Buick... :D

So you guys are finally gonna step up to an Aurora? ;) Hey, what year is the Regal? Your airbox is different than mine, mine has the filter at a rather dopey 90-degree angle.

Its a 2000. Every option across the board. The airbox is just there for decoration as of right now. ;)

And yes GA, you can do it for maybe 20 grand, and a M3 will do it for what, 80? Yikes.

I don't believe GM can be compared to pre-Bungle BMW...

Aurora- your car is FWD or RWD? I only know of a handful of FWD V-8's.

Well, it depends on what you are talking about regarding the comparo. Does a Cadillac compare to a Bimmer? It depends on what you consider important. If you consider praise from the car rag idiots to be important, you can't go wrong with any BMW. I recall an article on BMW's active steering in the 5-series. They wrote about how the system kept getting wildly out of whack and they'd have to shut the car down and restart it. And about how it would change ratios through turns and such and they'd almost crash, and then proceeded to praise it for being so direct and "real".

Of course BMW's are the ultimate car for some people, and not for others. The same is true of GM or any other companies products.

The Aurora is FWD. FWD V8's are not that common, but they will get a bit more so soon. GM has put the Chevy smallblock in FWD configuration now, and will show up on Impala/Monte SS's as well as the Grand Prix GXP.

I think I now own one of every family of GM DOHC V8. At least I can't recall any others in modern history.

I think Cadillac has actually cheapened its image with the CTS. A Cadillac shouldn't be something that anyone can afford. It was meant to be GM's top rung car, for those who have done their hard work in life and deserved to indulge. Sitting in an Escalade, I see nothing special about the interior. I almost feel that there's more quality in the 10 year old Lexus.

New 5-series (E60) with Active Steering is post-Bungle. Look for any bad reviews about the predecessor (E39).

Kind of cool to say you have every DOHC V8 GM offers. You've also got a good chunk of their company. Chevy, Olds, Pontiac...

If you were one of the working class people GA, you'd know that not "anyone" can afford. I know people that drive 10 year old camary's and civics, and make well over 200k a year. The don't do this because they want to, they just have better priorities than a car.

I personally don't like the CTS, but its nothing to diss. Its a well rounded car, that will be out of reach for most folk that have a where you work for a *****, for minimum wage. (No offense to the people that make more than 60k+ a year).

Pontiac? The 3800 is originally a buick engine, which is ironically in a buick...

you can get a E36 M3 for about 15K in a nice condition where i am at in Washington state and with a 5K in mods (to keep in the 20K for the buick range), you would have AWESOME car! I will admit the insurance would be more a month though.

Well, what I was pointing out was that it did not get a bad review. They still raved about the steering. Apparently it must have communicated a lot of feedback while you were about to wreck in a curve.

As to interiors, this is another thing I feel most mags are full of crap on. I can't speak to the Escalade interior, but I don't see the difference in Japanese plastic vs American plastic. A Camry or Accord interior is as plasticy and bland as an Impala interior.

Anyway, all I really meant is that the best car all depends on who you are and what you want from a car. Some people think pre-Bangle BMW's and Lexi are great, some people think they don't deliver on the price. It's all in the eye of the beholder. You'd said GM can't match BMW, and I say it depends on who's doing the comparo. :wavey
