Emergency input requested - Muddy cloth seats

My neighbor was kind enough to help us find our dog who went on a self guided tour up the street.



She found him...but before she realized that his feet were all muddy she opened her car door and let him in.



So now there's mud all over the cloth seats in her new 1800 miles on it Civic. The seats were scotch guarded so that should help.



What's my proceedure here? Let the mud dry, then brush and vacuum...should I use a cloth sprayed with Woolite solution?



Never had this to deal with before...all help appreciated!

I unfortunately can't help you, the only time I've had a muddy dog in a vehicle was with a loaner blazer I had a few years ago when my truck was in the shop. My dog had done the same thing at 2:00 AM!
 
take off any clumps, let dry completely, dry vac,



wet with water/cleaning solution and extract (shampoo them)

repeat as necessary



let dry

re-scothguard
 
I was able to do an acceptable job by letting it dry and then brushing the cloth with a rather stiff brush. It dusted off and I vacumed it away. I used terrycloth sprayed with a Woolite solution to spot treat a few areas thet needed it.



The console and other vinyl bits were easy.



Of course I did the glass and wiped down the whole interior just to go the extra mile.

My mom took my dog for a ride, before realizing she ran through the mud. It was not really set in at the time I began working on it. I took one of the .33 bug and tar sponges from the dollar store, sprayed the stain directly with Woolite/water mix, and scrubbed. ALL of the mud transfered to the sponge after one round of scrubbing. I wiped down the rest of the seat with the woolite mix and it was as good as new. (1994 Camry, beige cloth interior)
