Electric Power Washer Ryobi Portable

Had my neighbor try to help repair my 18 year old gas pressure washer...may it R.I.P.
So I picked up a nice electric Ryobi at Home Depot. $109
Ryobi 1600-PSI 1.2-GPM Electric Pressure Washer-RY141600 - The Home Depot
My MTM foam lance connected right up to it. Added a 30' hose to it and its perfect. Comes with a 15 degree tip, Turbo tip, and chemical tip. I used to prefer the 40 degree on the gas but might use my 25. Still testing it out.

Question: I have on occasion had times where either my garden hose was kinked or forgot to turn the water back on with my Gas Power Washer. It never damaged the pump. ( or I never noticed )
Has anyone ever damaged a pump doing that? :o
I'm asking because I just ran the new electric yesterday from 5-10 seconds thinking it was purging out the new 30' hose I just bought, only to find I had the valve off. #$%%%%.

It's working fine but I'm not really sure how easy it may be to damage one.

I believe it can damage them. Check your owners manual.

You should always purge the lines with the pressure washer off until no more air comes out. At least with electric ones. Never used gas. I always connect my hose, turn the water on, then squeeze the trigger until the air is gone. Turn it on and good to go

I always purge them..for some reason a handful of times I turn off the water after having it on forgot to hook the hi side up.
It seemed ok after that so I'll put it to use this weekend and give it a workout.

Got this from Home Depot I have a gas unit but I wanted something electric and not to expense. At $109 I hope it will fill the bill, it is rated at 1600 psi and 1.2 gpm I'm sure those numbers are inflated. It's small and easy to move as far as power it's ok only problem is having a real pressure washer, it is fairly quiet which is one of the reasons I wanted it. I was more surprised in how well the foam cannon worked, gas unit is still the way to go for that but then again I'm not comparing apples to apples. What I do have to use to is the fact it sounds like it's seizing when it kicks in, again it's electric. One draw back is the hose length and a pretty cheap gun, but it really is a cheaper unit but if it holds up for a few years I think it will work for the money and hopefully the neighbors will like the quiet operations early in the mornings. Thanks to Shawn F350 for his input................

I've made that "oops, no water!" mistake too, hasn't killed my cheapie pressure washe yet but I try not to make a habit of it.
