Electric Guitar Detail.....

Can't use that anymore. My wife's cat is allergic to it (at least was 10 years ago when we first figured that out). Poor thing started biting his skin until he looked like he had been in a major cat fight.



Finally I suggested changing our soaps out, starting with laundry detergent. That was it! Nothing wrong with Purex, though. Always liked it otherwise.
 
I really would not recommend washing your cat in the washing machine! Your clothes will be very linty, not to mention the poor little kitty! LOL
 
Guitar Detail.....

Winter months car detailing gets a little slow around here.

A buddy brought over his electric guitar that he just re-finished and wet sanded. He told me he couldn't get it to shine when polishing by hand, and could I machine polish it. He informed me that the clearcoat was rock-hard.

I used old faithful, PC 7424 and a 4" orange pad with M205 to start.

He was right, rock hard.

I quickly switched to a 5.5" Surbuf and M105, which made quick work of the guitar! A few quick passes and it was shining like a brand new Corvette!!!

So it ended up being a one-step Surbuf/M105 polishing and turned out "WET".....

I polished the edges by hand with a green hand pad and M105.

Nice work on the guitar, I do guitars too from time to time. They can have some pretty hard paint.
 
I have an ace that I have yet to pull out of my sleeve, an inside connection to the local guitar stores where I am told some would want guitar polishing services. With the onset of cold weather I'll be going there this coming week to talk to the owner of one of the oldest stores in our area. I would think that there would not be a lot of earning potential in this arena but one does not know until one asks...right? Here's a few pics of some guitar polishing that I did not too awfully long ago. (not competing just sharing)

Got a part-time gig. I'm doing some consulting work for Honeywell. (Project Scheduling and Cost Control using Primavera Project Planner). I like doing it, it pays well and it sure beats the boredom of sitting around all winter waiting for the snow to melt!!! :;):scared::
 
For polishing the butt of a pool cue, use 105, 205, then seal with two coats of BFWD...

FYI- 2000, then 3000 grit dry sandpaper makes the shaft silky smooth!

Yes, I know I'm OCD.
 
Great idea. I've got an old Strat and a Jazz base that definitely need rejuvinating, so now I know to try some 105/205 with my little Griot's orbital. I never would have thought of this. :thumbup:
