Edge Yellow Cutting Pads

Hello Everyone At DC,

I have the Edge Yellow, Green, And Blue pads with the quick disconnect in my arsenal and had a quick question on the yellow pad. I have a year old vehical that does have some (what I would like to call minor swirls) on it probably from previous washes and so forth.

Labor day weekend I went over the hood only with some SSR 2.5 and the green pad. I went over the entire hood twice and noticed the swirls had indeed lightened. Please note this was also my first time using a PC and these pads.

My plan this weekend is to spend some time and go over the entire vehical. I am wondering if maybe I should be using the yellow cutting pad or if I should keep working the area with the green pad until the swirls are gone.

I guess I am a little leary on the yellow pad if it is going to be too abrasive or if it will be just fine. I notice from some searching that some of you do and some dont get into using this pad. I understand you want to start with the least abrasive procedure and work your way up as needed.

Would I be just fine in using the yellow pad with the SSR 2.5 and then follow up with the green or blue pad and say SSR2 or SSR1.

Thanks

Thanks Steve,

Yeah I will not be in a rush and I will have all weekend to work on it. I just wasn't sure if maybe I should be stepping up to the yellow or not. But on the other hand I am afraid of doing damage with the yellow if I did use it. I have no expierence on what results can be expected from using the yellow pad.

It shouldn't do damage but why cut the paint too fast if it's on your own car and you have time?

My car (bought it used) still has some light swirls but it looks ALOT better than when I bought it a year ago. Since I drive it daily and want to lightly polish it monthly, I want to keep as much paint on it as possible. Eventually it may be swirl free as I slowly polish over time.

I wouldn't hassite to use that Edge Yellow at all . If your going over it twice with green then once with yellow should get the job done. Work your final polish with the Edge Blue . You'll be good to go :bigups

i had to use yellow on my new accord. there is only slight line scratches left to see if you REALLY REALLY try and look at them with my 1200 watt dive light. i did 2 passes with yellow 2.5 2 passes with 1 on blue then im on my 2nd coat of exp with white.
car is getting better and better looking with each pass

You are reaching the limitations of either your PC or your pad/polish combo. I would be willing to bet, a rotory would take the imperfections right out. If you are only going to be using a PC, switch to the yellow pad. Do not worry too much about damaging your paint with a PC.
