Edge wool pads

Mr Edge, doesn't Malco sell your pads under their name too? And do you know the relationship between Malco and Presta? - I was thinking Malco makes the polishes for Presta, but I don't know.

Malco Products, Inc. is a major chemical manufacturer that has a detail line and a body shop line. The detail line is under the name Malco Products and the body shop line which has no silicones is under the name Presta. We make pads for both sides.

Thank you sir for clearing that up! Now if Malco would just update their web-site with all their products ( I got a copy of their product book )

how does the Edge wool pads compare to the LC foamed wool in regards to cut and finish? I can pick the Edge up locally VS having to order the LC.

The purple foamed wool has about as much cut as the yellow edge wool. The foamed wool has always finished out much better for me, with fewer compounding marks/marring/swirls than the yellow edge wool. The yellow wool may have a bit more bite to it than the purple foamed, but not alot.

I received the yellow wool today to complete my collection.

The green gets the most use by far. Using it with Presta 1500 polish is a match made in wool heaven.

The black has been getting some use to on harder clears and cleaning up wetsanding. I use the black with strada 1000 polish to get out deep defects on hard clears or to remove more severe wetsanding marks. White CCS foam with something like ZPC or 106ff will clean up the black wool "mess" pretty well. Sometimes a second step is required with the green wool, then follow with the white foam.

The blue I used once and its very light cut. On the softer lexus clear I still needed to finish with foam.

Thanks to Ryan, Tom P. and all others who got me started in this craze.

Your welcome Bryan. Glad to see you liked them along with the Presta polishes. I use the yellow the most with 1500 polish or Presta swirl remover polish. I personally still think Presta makes the best wool pad polishes. They are smooth running with very little to no dust. I have been using the 1500 polish with wool since 1994:chuckle:

I am gonna have to agree with you on that one Ryan. I will try the yellow with the P1500 on the next hacked up surface I get.

How do the lighter cut Edge pads finish?

I too think they finish down very nice. I have not tried the blue on a harder CC to see if I can finish hologram free, I can't with the blue and the soft CC on a lexus. There is very little to clean up even after the green wool.

I have a Makita wool compounding pad which is probably close to cut to the yellow Edge pad. I'm thinking picking up the blue Edge pad might make a nice addition.

Autogeek has finally added the Edge line of wool pads to their website, but be aware that they are the big 7 (or was it 8?) inch pads. If you want the five inch pads (my favorites), you still have to call AG and they'll arrange to have them drop shipped from Edge.
