Edge White Ultrafine Wool finish hologram free?

I'm one of those who needs to finish with a PC and foam in order to leave a hologram free finish after rotary work.

I'm considering the Edge White Ultrafine Wool since AG is having a sale. It's supposed to have almost zero bite. I know some like SuperBee claim it can finish hologram free.

How easy is it to finish hologram free?

What speeds?

What finishing polish?

Thanks.

If I went on another finishing wool rant, I think the mods would ban me for being a public nuisance. Besides, he's already read my "claim", so let's hear what other's experiences (if any) have been. :nervous2:

I was never here...:geez

Optimum Polish also seems to finish hologram free with white or black foam finishing pads. With Ultrafina, I stick with their pad since it was designed to work with the polish.

How much correction can you achieve with Optimum Polish? Is there a Menzerna equivalent (or close)?

I'm asking specifically about the Edge White Ultrafine Wool pad .... not foam.

I know SuperBee is a fan, and like he said, I've read his rants  so I know his opinion but I was looking for others experience.

I might be able to answer this question after the weekend. I just ordered some white finishing wool from autogeek yesterday. Just so you know....they've sold out of it. Mine will be drop shipped to me. The first person I talked to had no clue what I was talking about and tried to sell me blue wool. He said it was the same thing as the white....WRONG ANSWER. I finally got a guy name Dwayne on the phone who knew what I was talking about. If you decide to order....talk to him. Hopefully he'll be able to get yours drop shipped as well. The pads were a little pricey at over $16 a pad.

Apparently, Dwayne is the *only* person at the Geek that knows about the finishing wool. You can buy it directly from Edge from here....E2K Lambs Wool 6" Final Finish

They are $19.25 from Edge. You are effectively getting two pads, though, so it's really only less than ten bucks per "pad". Not bad, really.

Be careful about buying it from the Geek. They have been known to send out the Edge White *Compounding" wool instead of the finishing wool. Make sure you demand Edge item number W624. If you get a white pad that has twisted wool on it, they sent you the wrong one. Finishing wool looks very similar to the wool used in PFW pads, but it's quite a bit softer.

Sorry about that! I honestly had no idea it even existed until Dwayne told me about it, LOL. I did specifically mention in the order that you wanted the finishing pad so there should be no confusion. :up

So far only 1 fan of the Ultrafine Wool has spoken up (thanks SuperBee, and don't worry about being banned for expressing your opinion on these products, isn't what what these forums are all about??? :hifive:).... however not exactly a ground swell of praise for the pad.

I'll probably pass until others have had more experience with it. I was hoping this pad might actually allow me to finish out with the rotary for once, but finishing with the DA isn't so bad.:nixweiss

Are you not able to finish with a foam finishing pad on the rotary?

Even if it doesn't finish out 100% hologram free for somebody, it oughta get things infinitely closer than the same person would accomplish with a foam polishing pad (while still offering more correction than a foam *finishing* pad).

Gotta order some of those for when I resume work on the M3.

Oh, and finishing out 100% hologram-free just isn't all that easy, at least for me (and I'm one pretty coordinated guy). Also I've spotted holograms on some vehicles that were supposedly 100% hologram-free before too ;) Took a long, long time with two people doing the inpspecting, but they were there. Now I'm not saying that anybody here is making inaccurate claims or that they aren't getting things 100% OK...but I *am* saying that when I finish with the Cyclo, the panels *ARE* 100% hologram-free at a bet-your-life level of certainty, even if I can't pull the vehicle outside to inspect in the sunlight (the only way to *really* know). And I've *never* experienced a diminishing of gloss by doing a Cyclo follow-up (with the right product of course), so not being able to finish out 100% with the rotary just isn't an issue for me. Hey, I prefer using the Cyclo anyhow, it's about as close to fun as detailing gets for me :D

Depends on a lot of factors, i.e. the paint, the color, the finishing pad, how tired I am, etc. .... but I'd say more often than not I need to finish with the DA or I leave very faint holograms visible in full sunlight at certain angles.

That's the important part to remember. Alot of guys either finish with white LC foam, or use white LC foam prior to moving on to a true jeweling polish and jeweling pad.

The white finishing wool should be viewed as a replacement for the white LC foam. It isn't meant to be a jeweling pad, although on some harder clear coats, I have achieved as good of a jeweling result with the finishing wool as a red foam pad.

The great thing about this pad is that you get to have all the benefits of wool for your "finishing" polish step; it runs cool, it's safe, and it works faster than foam. In some instances, you'll get an even better finish from it than white LC foam.

After the white wool, try a true jeweling polish/pad combo to see if you get any noticeable improvement. Sometimes you will, sometimes you won't.

And here I promised not to go on another finishing wool rant. :o

What would be a good jeweling polish to use. either with a rotary or a flex da.i been looking to take the finale polish one step forward and was looking to use mez fpll. unless something else may be a better choice all answer are welcome thanks ahead of time guy's

Thanks, man, that's good to hear. I often worry about coming across as opinionated and annoying. At least, that's what my wife says...

It's *really* hard to beat Menzerna PO85RD and Menzerna Final Polish II.

MFPII is great on softer clears. PO85RD is great on everything else. These polishes are a-mazing.

Get into the Ultrafina system. I can't picture finishing a car out with a DA, that would take a lot longer I think. I like using my PC for applying sealant and waxes. I am an Ultrafina fan, it works very well. I've walked around my car with a flashlight at night, halogens, did sunlight inspections, can't find any holograms. If I can't find any I really doubt my customers can.

I finished out a G35x, an FX45 and a Pathfinder over the past few weeks with Ultrafina after defect removal was completed with Presta polish and wool.
