Edge Wave Pads, anyone have the center adapter hit the surface?

IIRC, epbcivicsi had an issue with the adapter hitting the paint but i can't seem to find the thread anymore...

Yeah, I remember that. He hit on a semi-weird crown line. He admitted it was most likely user-error, but it sure got my attention. Once I saw the panel in question, I decided it was different enough from what I work on that I wasn't gonna worry about it too much (but I'm not gonna forget about it either ;) ).

I use the crap out of mine and have not had any of the issues you have. I also find the foam grades to be right in line with any other brand as far as cutting ability and polishing ability. I think my details attest for the quality of the pads as well as the products I use and I have made quite a few black cars look amazing.

Don't know what the deal was with mine then...two have almost no foam at one side of the center ring...whether or not the adapter hits the paint, I really don't want plastic to spin on it either.

I am going to the regular edge pads. Also it'd be pretty obvious to anyone that if you take a sharp corner the this style of pad you could potentially strike the adapter. Most cars today don't have those edges, but some with spoilers would. It would be user error in those cases, but it wouldn't change the fact of the damage could have been avoided with a traditional pad.

Likewise a traditional pad if angled wrong would cause damage with the backing plate hitting.

I think the Edge is a good product...I just wasn't crazy about the WAVEs once I received them and the orange and green pads didn't hold up well after two cars of buffing. The blue, red and white were fine other than the very thin center on my blue pad. I did not have a need for the yellow.
