Edge vs. Lake country

My wife is getting me the 7424 for my birthday next month. As a new user - I wonder if the Edge pads are too much for my limited detailing abilities. The price, of course, is a little higher, but I'm not sure if I can justify it being so new.

What a great birthday gift!! :) Both Lake Country and Edge are excellent pads. The Edge is more expensive, but you can also flip them over and use the other side too. So it's like getting two pads in one. :)

Jen, I've been reading your posts. Is there a number I can call and ask more detailed questions? I also want to order a good polish to do something about the terribly neglected paint on all my cars. As far as an LSP, I think I'm going to stick with Duragloss for now. It seems to produce a great shine and it seems to be holding up very well.

Edge vs.Lake country. Hmmmmm....that is a difficult question.

Jen has made pertinent comment. If the pads are double does that mean that the price is double? No! They are more expensive but the surface is double. Edge has made a mark on this forum for being innovative and responsive to it customers. At least it has impressed me.

Have not used them since I am so heavily invested in the LC pads. IF the Edge pads had been in my purview when starting the use of the PC and rotary I may have gone a different direction. I am very satisfied with LC pads. Many different textures and sizes to choose from.

Good luck on your decision. From reports from respected members of this forum, IMHO, you cannot go wrong with either.

I've commented on this several times in various threads. I've got dozens of Meguiars and Lake Country pads that are now just sitting in my cabinets. I made the switch to the Edge system and have really liked it. I'm hoping my 15 year old son will take up the desire to detail, if so his pad collection awaits him.

I have many, many LC and Meguiar's pads as well, but I recently said f... it and made the switch to the Edge 2K pads. Besides the super high quality dura-foam the Edge pads are made of they have many, many advantages over the traditional velcro backed pads. My personal favorite is the automatic centering of the pads. This definitely causes the machine to vibrate MUCH less and therefore I don't have numb hands at the end of a detail. Plus Aaron has stated the auto-centering results in less wear & tear on the machine.

Plus, Aaron stands behind his products 100%. In the not too distant past I had an issue where an LC product damaged my car due to it not functioning properly and LC basically told me to stick it where the sun don't shine. I'm sure it was a 1 in a million issue that I had with my product, but they made very little effort to investigate the problem and no effort to reimburse me for the damage.

Basically what I'm saying is anyone can PM me if they want to buy my old (but like new) LC and Meguiar's velcro pads.

I appreciate the feedback. We are going to Lowe's this weekend and buying the PC 7336 and sometime in the next few days, I am going to go with the Edge pads.
Now the question is what do you guys think about the new wave style Edge pads? Has anyone tried them yet?

Do a search, there has been a review or two...

Also, I just got a wave pad recently, have not tried it yet though. To be honest I expect I'll stay with the flat pads for PC use though.

I'm learning to like the E2K pads also i like the convenice of being able to quick disconnect to flip the pad. This being sain there has been a learning curve for me and some time to get use too, when i had the LC pads i just went to town with them, i took to the pads like a fish in water.
