Edge pads

Hi all.

I've just taken delivery of some Edge pads. Being a regular user of Megs and LC pads up 'til now I couldn't help noticing the Edge pads are very much firmer and coarse feeling than the other brands of pads I've got, so much so that the Edge white finishing pad feels just like a cutting pad to me!... so naturally I'm a bit worried about surface marring when using them.

Is it a case of when the product has wetted the pad they will become much softer? I'd like to hear the views of others that have used these pads.

TIA.

I've only had a chance to use the yellow medium cut pad so far (classic style, 6.5" for the PC). I used it to compare against the Meg's yellow polishing pad and was using SSR 2.5 on both pads.

Like you I found it a bit firmer than say the yellow Meg's pad, yet it didn't marr the paint or anything, even when more pressure was applied by myself. I liked the fact it seemed to work a bit quicker but I also still like that the Meg's pads are a bit more plyable..... Happy with both :).

Hi Craig

They are a bit firmer but cutting power is similar to others, it's just their consistence. It helps newbies to keep the backing pad from the paint as-whell ;)

The firmness is due to the type of foam used ( DuraFoam) the cuting ability comes from the PPI (Pores Per Inch) the higher the number the finer the pad . Edge white pads have a 80 PPI . If you compared a white Edge pad to either a yellow or black Edge pad you would see the difference in the coarseness of them all. :buffing:
