edge 2000 polishing pad separated.....

Hey, i got just about 2 SHORT uses out of my edge 2000 6" blue polishing pad before it separated. The white piece that the pad is sandwiched around is loose, and allows no polishing action.

Is there something i did wrong, or does this just happen? I was using it on my PC, and didn't let it spin freely much at all. I lifted it off the car for a second(I know, shoulda turned it off) and i guess the "free motion" made it separate. Is it NOT ok to let a pad free spin at all? (even if so, just a portion of a second is kinda rediculous....right?)

Give Aaron a call at Edge. He'll likely take care of you. It should not seperate after 2 uses. It should handle free motion just fine, such as when cleaning the pad with a brush, or when letting it shake or spin out the water after washing it, etc.

actually Autogeek is taking care of it for me.... GREAT CUST. SERVICE!

I was just wondering if it was MY FAULT, which it sounds like it isn't.

Is it ok to let the pad spin free to get water out, or should they be(or can they be) put in the dryer? whats best or do both ways work fine?

thanks!

i got some new 8 inch pads for my new rotary(edge pads) and it says on the bag to attach them to the beffer and spin them to get the water out, never put in a washer or dryer though

I've never put them in the dryer. I always spin dry my Edge pads on my rotary and then let dry on an indoor grill for the remainder of the day / evening and they're good to go the next day.

i wonder if a PC "free spin" is much harsher on a pad than a rotary "free spin"???

Seems like it could be, as the pad is constantly changing directions....
