Easy to use OTC swirl remover/polish that can be used by hand?

Looking for something I can buy locally. A good polish or swirl remover that works great by hand... any recommendations? I'm pretty gunshy about polishes since whatever I've used in the past always seemed to end up putting more swirls in the paint than it ever took out!



There is one area on my car that I really want to polish out... I got nailed by a bird and and tried to remove the stain and I must have got some material imbedded in the MF or what I don't know but I have a bunch of very light cobweb looking hairline swirls in that area now that I'd really like to remove.



I don't have a buffer of any type, so by hand is my only option.



Also, I'm somewhat limited on applicators... just MF towels and MF pads. From what I've gathered, you would use something like a foam pad for polishing. Is that correct? Do I need a specific kind/grade/grit of foam pad or anything like that?

By the Rain-X/Fog-X people? For real? I dunno... I wasn't too happy with Rain-X or Fog-X..... Have you tried it yourself? Was there a noticeable reduction in the appearance of swirls?
 
Scratch X is made by Meguiars...Do a quick search and you will find a ton of info on it...Not made by the same people that make Rain X.
 
ScratchX is definitely a great product by hand. I've used it many times with amazin results. You have to work it in with some passion though.. dont expect to just rub it in and wipe it off. you gotta RUB IT HARD. and its a paint cleaner so as long as your applicator is a good one it wont put swirls or damage into the paint. :)
 
#80 by hand should work ok. IMO, if you are doing things by hand, you are better off hiding swirls than working them out.
 
Scratch X for removing the swirls definitely. If you cant seem to get them out, then I would follow it up with a glaze and it should look good.

So scratch X and some elbow grease :D sounds good.



It's a small area that I'm concerned about so won't mind the work out.



even if it reduces them I will be happy... not expecting miracles from any hand-applied products.
