East Coast G35 Coupe Search

GlossyTundra

Tractor Detailer
Ok guys, i'm down to my last option. My father and I are looking for a car for my sister when she turns 16. Sis has always been in love with G35 coupes, so seeing as the safety rating, gas mileage, reliability and price are all within our criteria, we have been searching for one for about 6 months.

Every once in a while we will come across a decent deal, but here in NC, seems all the G's are wrecked or way overpriced.

We are looking for a 2004-2006 G35 Coupe (any color considered) for less than $19k and less than 60k miles. This is the KBB value on the car, so we are just trying to find a decent one.

If you happen to know of one for sale on the east coast, or if you happen to do a quick craigslist search in your area, i'd much appreciate it. We only have about a month left (sis b-day is April)

Thanks:wavey

Have you tried searching on autotrader.com and cars.com ?

I don't necessarily think giving a girl a car with almost 300hp is a good idea for her first car. And an Infiniti will be expensive to fix when she crashes it. And the statistics say that something absurd like 8/10 drivers will crash their car within the first year of their license.

I told the same thins to my parents when they got my sister a car when she turned 16. They didn't listen to me and bought her a more or less brand new Lincoln MKX. She crashed it last week, and has had it since August. I'm not even going to get into the fact that they bought her an MKX whereas I got a 200k mile Explorer for my first car, when I was almost 19.

But even if you don't heed my advice (which you most likely will not, seems to be a common pattern with people and my good advice), offleaseonly.com is a good place to check. Of course, they're out of Florida, which might be farther away than you'd want.

The car choice has already been made. I did not ask for advice or comments on what sort of car that my father is going to get for her, simply where to find one. My family consists of a bunch of gear heads that have been driving various sorts of vehicles since we were all kids. Thanks anyway.

Well I usually wouldn't be the one to say this but your arrogance has got to go. No one will help you with anything with an attitude like that. Reality is even though you may not have asked for people's opinion on your family's car choice - you did post on an open forum where people express their opinions on a regular basis.

Maybe take a moment to relax before you upset those who could very well help you find what you are looking for.

Thanks

Arrogance? I've been here for over 4 years with many constructive and helpful posts. When a person asks a question on a forum, yes it may be an open forum, but they expect the *question* be answered, not someones $0.02 thrown in without asking.

I'd appreciate it if you dont come into my thread and accusing me of being arrogant and having an attitude. If you dont like what I post, then you dont have to read it. I posted a thread to ask a simple question, not to have 2 or 3 people give their own opinions without being asked.

Back on topic. To clarify, i'm asking if anyone knows of a G35 coupe for sale, not opinions on the subject.

Go on G35driver.com

They also have a classified section where you can find a nice G35 from a member of the forum if they are selling. Now let me give you some info on the car that you may or may not already know.

First off, it's important to know if it is a 6MT or an Auto. PM me if you want, and I can give you some more info. Also tell me if it's a manual or auto car you are buying.

Good luck :)

It will need to be an Auto, that should have been stated first.

I looked over on g35driver.com, but cant see much since i'm not a forum member.

You have alot to learn young grasshopper, good luck in your search.

Take your comments to PM please. They are not required nor wanted in this thread. You are turning my simple question into a childish pissing match.

Ok well I would recommend looking for 05+ if possible, just because there are less small problems such as the window motor dying that's in the 04, and also the 05 has just nicer gauges and lots of nice minor changes, such as the trim being authentic aluminum instead of plastic and the seats having more power controls and smoother shifting.

I would set up an account on G35driver.com, it's free and the website is pretty well laid out and everyone is friendly. My name is Darkstar752 on there, and they will definitely search for you and they know what to look for in it. Also, if you get one your sister can use it later to ask about any problems and learn more about the car. Also, they can run free carfax's for you if you need it, but if you need that PM me over there and I will give you a link to the thread.

Hey I appreciate it definatly. I'll have to set up a account, the options are getting pretty exhausted around here for g35 auto coupes.

We were looking more for the 05+ and really a 06 if we can help it. The 06's seem to have several small upgrades over the 05's if i'm correct.

Yes you are correct but honestly your she wont be able to tell the difference between an 03-06. If I were you I would just look for one that looks nice, was well maintained, and has low miles. You can find plenty under 19k especially this time of the year.

Its her first car, she probably doesnt know much about cars, so I think she will be happy regardless the year g35 coupe she is getting unless she is arrogant and will not appreciate a gift that only select few can get at that age.

My sister grew up with me, knows a TON about cars, and will definatly be able to tell an 03-06. So we will be looking an 05-06.

The 06 has bluetooth as the only interior upgrade.

As far as exterior, the headlights were changed from normal HID headlights to projector headlights, producing a lot more light. Also, the taillights changed slightly, and added a button on the left taillight that pops the trunk. If you get the sport edition, there will be a slightly different bumper and the spoiler changed from the 03-05 version. That is all the changes.

If you buy an 04-05, you can put in the projector headlights easily, they are just plug and play, and there is a DIY on G35driver on how to remove them and install the new ones. A brand new pair is $550 shipped, and can be found on eBay for less.

If you can save a lot of money getting an 05, then I would get it since you can easily swap out the headlights. The only real reason to get an 06 is just another year of warranty.

Warranty btw is

Bumper to bumper: 4 yr/60,000 miles

Powertrain: 6 yr/70,000 miles
