Eagle One WET Tire Gel

A couple of weeks ago I picked up a couple of packs of the Eagle one Tire Swipes at pep boys. 2 packs of 2 for 4 bucks. Plus a bonus bottle of Eagle One WET Tire Gel.

It is only a small trial bottle but have done 4 cars so far and used only about 1/4 of the bottle.

IT gives a great deep black satin finish. Not sure on how long it really lasts yet. The satin finish seems to diminish a little after a week but it is keeping the tires a deep black still. No browning yet.



It is very easy to apply with the tire swipes.
 
What kind of application methods are you guys using? Are you buffing after applying?



I never bought this since it sounded ultra-shiny, but if bmwtinut is getting a satin finish....

Thanks for the info. I was going to toss out the sample bottle that came with the swipes thinking it was just another typical shiney, greasy OTC product. Looks like I'll try it out this weekend.
 
I think that if you really put alot on you will get the wet shiny look but I seem to just put enough on and really work it in with the applicator. A couple of squirts on the applicator will easily do the whole tire plus some. Less is better. You can definitly tell that there is a dressing on the tire, not too shiny or too flat.
 
So you are applying thinly with just the applicator? No buffing afterwards?



That's how I have been using Endurance for a nice matte finish, but I have been wanting to try something different. I have seen the finish when using the EO Protectant Lotion and really like it. I might have to give the WET tire gel a try.
 
so what's your favorite dressing all ? I like the matte but not too glossy finish. So far, I have been using One Grand ERV and it works for me. Maybe when my bottle runs out, I'll the the EO.



I envy you guys who buy and try everything <g>.

As a matter of fact, I am going to detail my brothers new Honda Odyssey this weekend. Let me grab some pics of the ERV and post them.
 
I bought the tire swipes and it came with a trial size bottle of the EO Wet Tire spray. I bought a bottle before but just left it sitting, didn't last long and turned the tires brown. I've been using Endurance with no problems. How does the Gel compare to the spray?
 
I was so excited about the tire swipes when i got them, they looked like the perfect tool...especially for applying EO tire gel. But I found I got the stuff all over my fingers, and it's messy stuff.



I have since found the MOTHER of all tire dressing applicators; I LOVE IT. It's a oval shaped foam applicator which is concave to shape around the wall of the tire... On top, so as not to get fingers greased up, it has a plastic handle with grips... It's fantastic. I got it at a local autosupply store.



i can post a picture if you're unclear what i'm talking about.



On the topic, i like the EO tire gel. It's definitely more towards the shiny side, but with less, you get less of a shine. Just a matter of trial and error.
 
I don't know if this makes a diffrence or not but when I got home last night I checked at what the EO was exactly and discovered that it was the Tire Shine and not the Tire Gel.

Any way I still like it and like the applicator especially since you can get into the edge around the bead of the tire rim.
 
I'd like to try some EO tire gel. I usually use Vinylex on my tires on my GN and end up with a matte finish. I would like to add a little more shine to the tires though. When you apply tire dressings do you put pressure on the applicator or you apply it as if you were buffing?
 
mild pressure, not as though you're buffing though. One pass one way, then back around to ensure an even application, and you're done... not much to it!
 
I do it like I am painting a wall. I use a minimum of dressing. With Endurance, I get no fling, and it lasts at least 3 weeks (3-4 washings, plus 5+ days of rain). I brush some on and keep stroking around the tire until I get an even application with no excess. I'll go around and do all 4 tires, and then wait 5 minutes and come back and "re-paint" the tires with no dressing to make sure I get all the excess off. I get an excellent low-gloss (not quite matte) sheen.
 
Does anyone know if EO is water based or if it contains petroleum distillates? (I hope I didn't miss someone already answering this question.)

I use the EO gel on the wifes car (2001) Jetta GLX.



I apply it with the EO swipes. I leave it on maybe 15 min before wiping of any excess.



I was so disappointed when she came home after just one rain shower and the tire need to be retouched.



The car is garaged at her office so they weren't sitting in the rain.



I'll give it another go but the jury is still out.
 
I have tried this and am ambivilent about it. It gives a nice, matte yet slightly glossy look. However, durability is awful. You'll get a week out of it- barely- but no more. Otherwise, it's pretty good, and you certainly can't beat the price!
 
I like this stuff. It went on really easy and looks good - nice mat, clean looking tires. I put it on a week and a half ago. I drove in rain and got enough dirt splashed onto the body of the car to need to wash it. I use the CCD every day and QD every few days, so I was hoping to go longer than a week between washings. :rolleyes: But, the tires still looked clean!! Can I put this stuff on the bottom half of my car to repel dirt? jk.



Any suggestions on how to get it into the treads? The treads wrap to the sidewalls for about an inch. They are Pirelli Cinturato P3000s.
 
I just tried this stuff over the weekend (sample pack that came with tire swipes). It shines a bit more than what I'm used to (303 & Z-16) and cleaning my tire swipes afterwards took a considerable amount of work. However, I must say that I did like the shine. We'll just have to see if this stuff leaves any browning.
 
ive been using black magic tire gel...is a bit greasy but i recently..like tonight tried meguiars endurance and liked it although it is a bit watery..love the smell
