Eagle One A2Z (several pictures in action)

I bought a small sample bottle of A2Z and a foam wheel brush at Big Lots a couple weeks ago. I was hoping the wheel brush would make cleaning the tiny holes on mom's wheels easier, pictures should explain why. They got a coat of Meguiar's Gold Class liquid wax about a month ago, but the car hasn't been washed since.



A2Z worked as advertised, but that foam brush got ripped up. I figure I'll be able to use it a couple more times on her car before it is completely ruined. There wasn't much rubbing with the foam brush required which I guess is an indication of how strong A2Z is.

Overall, I think I'm pretty happy with my $2 purchase. Of course, the little 2oz A2Z bottle is about empty. If I spent more time I think that foam brush would have done a better job, but it may have ended up completely ruined.

My wife has a Buick with similar wheels. I found the A2Z an excellent cleaner in the nooks and crannies. 99% of the brake dust just washed away without scrubbing. Excellent product in my book for wheels where crap can build up and is at best, difficult, to remove with more traditional methods
 
FYI: You didn't follow directions though.



A2Z is meant to be applied to a dry wheel. Wetting the wheel can actually dilute it a bit and make it not work as well.

Oh well. It still did a decent job even in its "diluted" state. Good enough to make me want to buy a full bottle of it anyways :)



It still did a pretty good job of getting rid of a good portion of the gunk with just the hose, but the little foam brush was necessary to get the rest. Not sure that following the directions woulda helped :dunno:



Also tried out WAUD on her car after the wash.. pretty nice stuff :up
 
Depending on just how dirty the wheel really is with brake dust, having the wheel wet or dry can make all the difference with not having to rub or scrub at all, and having to. A lot of times, A2Z really is "spray on, hose off".
 
Percy, nice job. The A2Z is a potent cleaner...no question about it.



Have you tried just a simple sponge for getting in those holes? The human finger is an excellent cleaning tool when protected by a cheapie (throw away) sponge for situations like this.
 
I too love A2Z. It's my 2nd favorite tire cleaner. I only wish it came in larger bottles than the 32oz. size that you usually find at the the usual places.



Also, I think I tend to slop it on too much. I only get about 5 or 6 sets of tire washes out of one bottle. Do you all get more washes per bottle?
 
I use A2Z regularly on the alloys. I found it to be a stronger cleaner than P21S.

Believe it or not, Wolfgang Tire Cleaner. It's a concentrated gel so I find I don't have to use as much product as I do A2Z (I can do about 10 sets of tires with one 16 oz. bottle.) Also, I can get it in gallon sizes which I like now that I'm regularly getting jobs.



It also wants to be used on wet wheels which is a plus for me since I like to rinse down the car first. It breaks down just about everything with only light agitation. It clings too so I can spray all 4 wheels and then clean and it won't run off or dry out.



My only gripe is price. With discount, I think I got it for about $45/gallon. That's about 80 sets of tires the way I use it. Still, even though I wish it was cheaper, it still ends up being about half the cost of me using A2Z (I figure 5-6 cars per bottle of A2Z so 16 bottles for 80 cars * $5/bottle = $90.)
 
Where do you buy it by the gallon and get a discount? I have been real happy with Stoner's TW1 tire cleaner, it is cheap by the 5 gallon bucket, the same as 1 gallon of wolfgang. My only wish is that is was thicker and would cling to the tire more.
 
A2Z is the best wheel cleaner I've ever used. I got the wheels on my work beater cleaner than they've been in ages with A2Z. It's tough on dirty tires too!!

No kiddin'! :scared Finally, after more than a year of hearing how A2Z had been reformulated to make it safer, I bought some. Used it on my Benz aluminum wheels. No problem. Then used it on the '70 Ghia's chrome wheels with painted center emblems. MAJOR PROBLEM!!! I sprayed it once on the wheels, sat down and had a smoke, then gently (soft wash mitt) washed the wheels. All the black paint came off the center emblems. :shocked Mineral spirits or paint-stripper could not have done a better job. What the heck is in this A2Z stuff anyway. :nixweiss



Anyway, my A2Z has now been pushed to the back of my detailing cabinet. Won't be using it again.

Eagle One says to let it sit for 30 seconds.. If I had read that page before I used it, I probably wouldn't have sprayed the wheels down.



They say it works to clean wheel wells, I'll have to give that a try when I get a full bottle.
 
Well, if 30 seconds is safe and 5 mins. is meltdown, then I pray that no detailer has a kid who suddenly needs to be picked up and loved, or no detailer gets a phone call he needs to answer. :(
 
Anytime you use a wheel cleaner (that works) I think you need to exercise caution because of the nature of the product. Wheel cleaners are meant to break apart 'baked on' particles, oils, and other things that require by nature strong chemicals. I like to use water/shampoo when preferable. I'm surprised A2Z is so strong since its a consumer product , but I like it.
 
I disagree, ncal. I don't think all wheel cleaners are risky. For the past year, I've been using Meguiar's APC+ (diluted 4:1) as my wheel cleaner, and I never had a problem ... whether I worked it immediately or got distracted and waited 10 minutes. The only time I had a problem was when I went for this A2Z.
