DWG vs. Product X Glaze War II

Okay, in another thread a question was asked how does Product X compare to say DWG. So while doing a black GM truck last night I experimented some and here are my results. This truck needs lots but I was only hired to do a quick polish and sealant for the winter prep. I got clayed, megs 205, IPA, and jet seal 109.

I then took off the tape so you could see a reverse shot of the original condition.

Here is the same area after a quick Megs 205 and soft buff 2.0 black pad 6 PC.

Again I was impressed with the outcome. I still don't use glazes to HIDE the defects on a clients car, UNLESS they are told up front and want that kind of work.

I would say DWG is more durable since its synthetic based and X is oil based, however I think Oil based glazes give a bit more pop, but they seem to reduce the durability of the LSP too.



So the easy answer is what are your final goals for the vehicle? Long term durability or Show stopping looks, while not that dichotomous of a choice but you get the idea.



Your original post about a glaze with durability? I would go towards DWG then.

Another thing...what technique(s) with the pc did you use to glaze? How many coats? How long did it take to glaze vs polish w/205?



The polishing results look far better than the glazing, not to mention the results are 'real'. The more I think about it, the more I'm torn with just using something like 205 vs a heavy filler glaze for my econo details. If it takes a little more time to polish, the rate is still very reasonable for the results acheived, IMO.
