Duragloss as primary line??

I have a 2001 solar yellow Is300. Some of my paint is dull looking and I have swirls marks and such. I was just in an accident where I had to have the entire front of the car along with the front driver and passenger side doors repainted. There is a noticeable difference in color in the front and the rear of the car. Is there anything in the duragloss lineup that can help me remove the swirls, deepen/restore color and better match the front and rear up?

I personally would take it back and have them re do it. Get the paint right first & then worry about polish/wax. It seems to me they did not blend it properly. If the paint is not matching there is nothing that will match it up except better paint work.



As for your question DG does have some items to help with the swirls . You will have to check their website www.duragloss.com or call there and ask for Jerry ....or Bill , they will be able to help a lot.



I would not try anything on it right now and take it back to the paint shop. They should be a certified Toyota/Lexus shop and not some corner body shop , I would also call the insurance co. and tell them your not happy with the paint , they may with hold payment until it is to your liking. DON'T SETTLE for anything less that you want !!
 
Well I left that part out. I have been thru this again and again with Lexus and the insurance company. Lexus claims they cant do any better. The insurance company says that they will take Lex's word over mine about the quality of the work. Lexus claims that the rest of the car has "dead and oxidized paint and can be restored by me, and that they will only repaint areas that were in the accident and they repainted. Ive had to much go on in my life lately to get overly stressed about the car right now. Someone what to come yell at them or me? lol
 
As a bit of an update I clay barred and scratch x'd the rear bumper this weekend and the color between the that and the front of the car are pretty similar. I'm guessing the sun didnt damage the back bumper as much as it did the top and sides. Would using a stronger abrasive on the sides and top do the trick? Like I said Ive been thru a lot lately with a medical scare and family and friend loses. I'm willing to try this first seeing how much better the back bumper looks and front what Lexus told me about oxidized paint. Is someone thinks this may do the trick can someone point me towards a cheapish but good product to use for this job to use along with the DG line?
 
Others will chime in that know more than about how to do that better than I can . Do you have a machine to polish or doing it by hand ?? What type of products do you have ??



As far as DG products, talk to Jerry over there.



The 2 that are mostly used from Duragloss are #652 which is an abrasive pre-cleaner.



The other is #671 which is a swirl mark remover.
 
I was looking to start over from scratch as far as my products go. I have been using meguiars but from reading on here and other forums its not really worth it. Ive heard a lot of praise for the duragloss line so was going to give them a try. For right now I was just going to use whatever product by hand, I know it will be harder and take longer but I really dont mind. Any and all help will be appreciated!
 
Ok I was thinking about maybe trying the products mentioned earlier in this post and see if that would help any. Would adding color x in the lineup help at all? And also whats the best way to remove any previous waxes?
 
If you are going to use the #652, it wil remove any old wax. Also, ColorX would not really add anything if you follow with 601PBA then 105. That's the 3 steps I would recommend. You can follow with AW the next day. I have used this combo plenty of times with great results.



BTW, 652 is rather mild and will not do any significant correction.
 
06E90, thanks for the reply! I noticed you didnt include 101 and 601. Do i really not need these? Again thanks for all the help!

I did include the 601 (PBA) but it is optional. I personally do not think you need tha 101 if using 652 and 105.
