Duragloss 601 and 111/105

I'm looking to use products in the duragloss line, and after much reading, I'm still a bit confused about the differences between 105 and 111. The 111 seems to be the more pure sealant, but I've read comments and the 105 has a newer and/or better formula.



I plan on using 601 (not sure how useful this step really is), then following up with a couple coats of 111. I'm looking for a slick and durable finish. Any thoughts on the 105 vs the 111? Thanks in advance.
 
Btw, I'm also considering Collinite 845 as it is locally available as well. How do the 111/105 products compare to 845? I'm still amazed at the durability of 845, especially since it's technically not a sealant (if I remember correctly). Would 601 still help with other products such as 845?
 
DG 111/DG 105/Collinite 845 are all very durable products to use on your car. I believe that the DG105 will provide you with the best durability and looks. If I'm not mistaken, 111 is the older formulation, as you noted.



I don't believe 601 would help with 845, because 845 is a carnauba wax, and 601 seems to be specifically designed for the DG sealants. With 601, you basically put on a thin layer, and let it dry to a haze. Then you go over it directly with DG 105, WITHOUT buffing off the 601.

I've used both 111 and 105 with 601. The difference between 105 and 111 is mainly the cleaner - 105 has light chemical cleaners, 111 does not. Durability and finish for both products look the same to me. If you want to clean your paint, use the 105. If your paint is clean, use 111. Using 601 increases durability of 111, but I'm not sure about 105 - it looks like the cleaner in 105 can take off at least some of the 601.
 
I was all psyched to use the DG105 after reading so much positive info about it here, but after using both 105 and 111 on the same car, even did a side by side comparo, I can say 111 has much better gloss than 105.



I know the guy at Duragloss said its an older formulation, but to me you can see a major difference in shine. DG105 = $9.99 for 16oz. DG111 = $9.99 for 8oz., if 111 is an older formulation why is it twice as much?



I like 111 better than any sealent Ive used (which isnt a whole lot, Zaino, mostly OTC stuff). Mostly because it is a pure sealant, wont remove layers below it, and has no solvents either. Does great on wheels and plastic trim too. Durability is awesome as well. 4 months one coat on my wheels, still beading like crazy.

Thanks for the info. I'll stick with duragloss products this time, so I'll pass on the 845.

Thanks as well for the info. I considered using z2 pro, but really wanted an otc product (not to mention 111/105 is much cheaper).



Did you use 601 before 111?



I'll try the 111 formula, looks like you've had good results with it. :cool:
 
I also prefer the 111 over 105. I was using 111 for years then kept reading about 105 on here, tried it a couple times and was not impressed.



I would get compliments on 111, never on 105, it was just another sealant really.
 
No never used the 601, although I would assume its a quality product. Like I said its been durable regardless. I actually went over the whole car using a cheap walmart orbital and used DG652 as a cleaner. Which did nothing I might add mainly because I was using (not knowing anything at the time) a pad with no cut and a crap machine.



Now that Ive been educated thanks to this site, Ive just purchased a PC7424, some pads, SIP, 106ff, and Im going to use all that, then use 111 as my sealant and top with Pink Wax. I will take pics, should be awesome!
 
Here is how they rate according to Bill at DG



105 , most aggressive cleaner rated on clean ability 10

101 , A cleaner/ sealant rated as a 5 on cleaning ability

111 , pure sealant , rated as 1 on cleaning



601 is a pre cleaner to use 1st if you choose also considered a bonding agent.



I would do a 601 , followed by 105 1 or 2 x , then 111. Use AW to maintain and FC&S for detail spray and light cleaning.
