Duragloss 601 & 105 procedure

Alright, bringing this thread back for a quick question. When layering with the 105, if I leave the car outside and I plan on waiting 24 hrs between each layer, should I just rewash it? Will it be okay (for the bonding, whatever) if I rewash it?

Just finished applying the 601 and 105 combination. I put on two coats of each 24 hrs apart. I then applied the Aqua Wax 24 hrs after the 2nd coat. 2 coats was suggested by Jerry one of the developers of DG products. Seemed to improve the look. Never used either product before, but will from now on. Put two coats of NXT on my wifes Sienna at the same time. For the first time in 38 years my wife commented on how shiney the 105 made my Tundra look.

No, the 601 and 105 are not supposed to be mixed. 601 is meant to prep the surface before the 105 is applied. It cannot sufficiently work as a prep if mixed...

Personally, I would just go over the finish with FC&S and not do a wash so soon. Then apply the next coat of 105...

I agree + I think the FC&S is a great product and also bonds to the polish.

I really don't consider DG to be an OTC product..... at least not here . The auto parts stores that are listed on the website may have a bottle of dusty polish or AW Laying on the shelf, but thats about it. If you go to the right stores you can find a lot of stuff OTC , all the 3M line , all the Megs prof. line. Thats what they sell at the auto paint supply stores , but you won't find those at your local auto supply stores. I have 2 local people who are Zaino dist. that I can just go pick some up I guess I could consider that an OTC product too.

I would order directly from DG , for the latest products and most updated products. Bill & Jerry are great and very informative.

I just made an order from Autogeek because I needed to get some ONR as well. I'm pretty sure the products will be fairly "fresh". If not, their customer service is great and I'm sure they wouldn't hesitate to replace defective products.

Do you think that using a QD would be okay between the 105 layers? I don't have FC&S, but I have Long Haul QD, Mothers QD, and ONR.

Yeah, you'll be fine using the Mother's (at least that'd be my choice from those available to you). No worries! :)

If I were to apply a glaze like Ez-Creme or WMF along with 601 and 105, when would be best?

Before 601? Before 105? After both, and then top with a 'nuba?

Excuse me for my newbness, I have a question when layering these products as i am probably going to pick up a couple of them in the near distant future.

would you appy it like so 601+105 day later 601+105 then A/W...

Just want to be sure...

and would the 601 remove minor swirls?

The next Question would be would this combo work with a

black cherry metalic paint? and a bright yellow paint of some sort?

Or is there a better combo with this same price range for a 3 step

with these color paints...

thank you in advance...

No, I don't believe the 601 will remove minor swirls. Use a dedicated polish for that. 601 works as a "catalyst" that helps bond the 105.

The 601 is only used the first time, and not subsequently, because the 601 would otherwise degrade the last layer of sealant.

It would probably work very well with the metallic paint, and just fine for bright yellow paint. Whether there is something better--You'll have to experiment for yourself. It's hard to go wrong with DG105 though.

What about Klasse AIO for cleaning/polishing after washing and applying DG 105 afterwards? Any problems with DG 105 sticking to Klasse AIO? It seems like the 101 is the same product as the 105 from the products' descriptions. Btw, I have a 2007 White Accord. I want a wet look and I know it's hard to make white wet but I hear DG 105 is the way to go. What should I go with for the cleaning? Klasse or 101? I intend to clay the car after washing with DG wash.

105 looks AWESOME on flake!!

I do 601/105 wait 12 hours then another application of 105 wait 12 hours then use the 951

When time does not allow me to do the above process I do 601/105 then top it all off with some 951 for that extra "bling".

For a real nice touch put some 951 on the exterior glass.. rain just rolls right off, almost dont even need wipers.

Klasse AIO is a viable option if you don't have 601. KSG is similar to DG105 and also needs a prepper, which AIO is.

105 is the newer version of 101, from what I know. 101 does have some cleaning ability. I'm not sure which would be better for prepping the surface, 101 vs. KAIO. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Choose one, and the results will be just fine.

Thanks guys i definitely appreciate it.. Soon as i get my couple tint jobs done here i will look at picking some up... Or maybe after i get a job here shortly...

Now all i'll have to do is get a swirl remover from one of the last threads i read...

101

601

105

AW

Thanks!!

I'm not sure the 101 is needed as the 601 has some cleaning ability. If you were going to use 101 I believe it should cure before applying a coat of 105.

If 105 is more of a sealant, and 601 is the prep for the sealant, what would be the cleaner or polish to remove light surface scratches?
