Duragloss 101 and 105 tips

AL, do you apply this products via PC or by hand?

I tried applying them via PC and I found that they don't spread very good so I used too much product, and the layer was not uniform.

I don't know if with 4" pads will be easier or even with the rotary @ 700 rpm (moving fast, no heat at all).

I do the 101 by machine (pc)..I use a white CCS pad since 101 does have a little abrasive in it....the blue works well also...4" ..but use a little more product..I buy 101 in 32 oz bottles...spritz the pad with AW...every other panel..just a light one...a mist.....not soaking...makes the product spread further...

on the 105 I do by hand...use less product....I actually give the foam applicator a fine short mist of AW to sorta prime it....I use a baby medicine syringe to add to pad...just a small drop size of a peanut does a panel..it goes on thin....little more for hood and roof...lol....I wait 45 minutes and buff off.....I buff it again a hour later....just a quick wipe...seems to help get any residue missed...

Al--do you use the AW like a detail spray or is it just an occassional boost to the 105? Do you have to apply the AW to a wet surface or can it be sprayed on a dry panel? I'm switching to DG products as my Zaino products run out--so far I am very impressed with the CWC.

Thanks,

Paul

Paul....I use AW monthly...it will last that long and longer...I use the 921 fast clean and shine as a QD..has a cleaner and a protectant in it...

I use AW on dry paint..get the best results that way....my method is a 2 MF way..one to apply and one to wipe off...I spray the mf first...sorta prime it to decrease absorption. I use 1 spray a panel..I wipe it in with the one MF and dry with the other..now the benifit is the wipe towel gets wetter as you go and you use less...after half the car is done I cut the spray down to a half spray per panel...just flip to other damp clean side ...really spreads far like this....

do your windows also...and trim...and wheels...

Thanks Al!!!

I used 101 this weekend on my wife's car. I applied it really thin with a polishing pad on my PC. The product really seemed to just disappear into the paint. I gave it an hour to dry, but there really was not much hazing to remove. I gave the car a good buff, but wasn't impressed all that much with the slickness. The next day I checked it out and paint felt much slicker. We haven't had any rain yet, so I don't know how it beads. This weekend I'm going to do my car with 101 followed by 105. I'll let you guys know how it goes, and I'll include some pics.

I just finished my car with 101 and 105. They left a very clear and slick finish. Very pleased with the results. Here are some pics.

I was on the phone the other day with Jerry..I had a few questions regarding Marine products for auto use....and he told me the 501 marine polish was a very good cleaner and had more protection in it than the 101...had super cleaners...and very well fortified with a sealant....I am going to try this product ..he assured me it was paint safe and no wooried...just a stronger version of 101.....

I tried the Marine protectant on black plastic trim..it is awesome....more UV protectors I was told and detergent resistant...2 washes and a few rains and it looks great...going to try it on interior today...tried it on a section of tire to see what it looked like..was so so..I may need to wash then try...it was sorta dirty ...

the Marine wash is also sorta different..has a bit more cleaner in it...also a tad more polymers for gloss and a different smell....I am going to try this also for a dirty paint wash...

the Marine all claim extra sun screen UV blockers...

Al,

How has the Marine Protectant been working out for you? I'm almost out of 303 and was thinking of trying it for both exterior plastic cladding and interior vinyl. I like 303 but it doesn't seem to hold up well for exterior usage. Does the Marine Protectant have a matte or shiny finish when used on interior vinyl? Thanks :)

I was not impressed by using 601 , but will try the 101 / 105 combo.

Why not use 111 as a last step instead of 105 ?

The Marine protectant is holding up real nice...ok ...once you put it on it looks sorta dull....but wait till next day it comes alive...its like AW the next day its much better ..I use it inside and out .....but tires is a bit tricky..it may take 2 coats to get its best look..first one sorta soaks in..looking like you did not do them..the second coat really looks good....its a semi gloss look....best thing is that it lasts..even thru a wash or rains...tires just bead....

FallGuy..I do not see why you had a problem with 601...it has always worked fine for me...I put it on by hand...as I said before a machine is not the ideal way ..it flashes to fast and dulls...it was made for hand use also....most of the DG sealants are made for hand use....actually most sealants were made for hand use except the production sealants which have a different chemical make up that say made for machine use....

If I was going to do it by machine again I would use a 4in pad on speed 1 or 2 at the most...when I do by hand I use just about a ounce and a half at most...and never had a problem of it dulling just rub it in

601 is a polish bonding agent. Apply, let haze and apply 105 or 111 over it(it is NOT an AIO). It really seems to improve 111 but I've never used it with 105.

Thanks Al. Do you see it as a one for one substitute for Aerospace 303? For tires, it sounds like this would replace DG Tire and Mat dressing?

I know its not an AIO

I'll do it by hand and see.

You guys are confusing the crap out of me. I thought you were supposed to use the 601 under the DG polishes, either 111 or 105. This thread has a lot of talk about using the 101 under the 111 or 105...so is the 101 kind of like Z-AIO...does it provide the same "polish bonding agent" action as 601?

The 101 or 501 is used as a cleaner. It can be followed by the 601 and then the 105 applied right over top. That's how I use it.
