Nimble said:I'm just stirring thought because it seems as though Zaino lovers will go to great lengths to downplay any benefits to a wax. No hard feelings, I have used Zaino and like it....not on my Dad's red NSX though, the wax looked better but that's another story. :bolt
blkZ28Conv said:Silver is a great candidate for a sealant like Zaino even without a "show car" Prep.
Maroon if it is metallic will also work great..

Silver vehicles? I have, uhm...counting...five of 'em and only two are sealant-worthy *IMO*.
Maroon metallic? That was the color I tried Klasse on (my late uncle's Outback) and should've used 1Z/wax.
Regulars here know that blkZ28Conv and Accumulator aren't gonna :argue about this stuff and OK, OK, I'm gonna give it a rest having more than said my piece
Johnny27- There's a great quote from a guy who worked for the PPG company: "Find something you like and use it often". You're not gonna go wrong with any of the advice you get around here, it's all coke vs. pepsi in the end.
And, heh heh, Nimble's statement about my always being right makes me want to run and hide anyhowSo...:bolt
Grimm said:I hear you Johnnie27, but take it from a guy with a two year old and a 3 month old, you may get to a point where you start wanting to go out to the garage once in a while to "get away from it all" :bolt
Nimble said:Right, but I 'think' what Accumulator is saying (and I agree with), is that even a 90% finish will see benefit to a 'slight' filer glaze/carnauba combo. While I'm sure your cars are great looking, can you really say they are 100% marr free and wouldn't benefit in the slightest from a glaze/carnauba combo? I'm just stirring thought because it seems as though Zaino lovers will go to great lengths to downplay any benefits to a wax. No hard feelings, I have used Zaino and like it....not on my Dad's red NSX though, the wax looked better but that's another story. :bolt
sspeer said:I think Accumulator brings up a good point..a polish some masking ability and a durable Nuba would be a very forgiving and practical solution, especially if you want to work by hand.
Durability doesn't mean scratch/swirl resistance..even if I put a 12 month wax/sealant on my daily driver, it's going to need a polishing well before then
blkZ28Conv said:Accumulator... You always have salient points and have actually used all the products that we discuss...
Johnny27 said:I've read that waxes are outdated however, it seems that a lot of people still like them...

Well, I don't have any first-hand experience with ZAIO and that makes me a little leery about commenting on it vs. something else. I'm trying to extrapolate from presumably similar products that I *have* used, but that's risky.

I've read some of the "waxes are obsolete" comments too, and they get meIMO most people who slam entire categories like that either a) have an agenda or, b) have no relevant first-hand experience with what they're criticizing.
Some sealants are truly special. So are some waxes. Neither one is gonna replace the other any time soon, and for good reason![]()
Accumulator said:blkZ28Conv- Ah, OK, gotcha..now I see what you meant. I just didn't like assuming that ZAIO was all that similar to Klasse AIO/Autoglym SRP/etc. etc. but I suspect somebody would've called me on it by now if I'd been off-base.
blkZ28Conv said:Actually ZAIO has it limitation like other AIO's but it does have a nice bite if used in a certain manner (PC with pad variation). That was the reason I threw out the comment about using a terry 100% cotton towel as a polishing pad for hand application. Terry has a good bite and this method will alleviate a finish that has minor marring at the same time laying down protection and appearance augmentation (shine, gloss, reflectivity).
