Durability.....Megs. #21 vs #20 vs Collinite

I wash and wax quite a few family members vehicles of varying colors for them and occasionally work on getting out some swirls. Most of the vehicles I do are outside 24/7 and the owners have the mentality that all waxes last for 6 months.



I've concluded form reading on autopia the Meguiars #20 would be better on on lighter cars where #21 would be better for darker colors. I've read great things about 21's durability but not much about 20. How does 20 compare against 21 in this catagory. Also how to both 20 and 21 compare in durability to Collinite 845. I'm much more concerned about durability and ease of use than about shine since these cars only see new wax about every 5 or 6 months.
 
For durability, I'd look to Collinite, Werkstatt, or Zaino.



I've never read any concrete durability findings from #20 or #21.
 
Out of those 3, what's the easiest to apply. There are a few 4 door dually trucks that make semi's look small, so ease of use is pretty important.



I don't know why, but I'm slightly intimidated by zaino as you have to mix it just right and everything. Is it all in my head or is it kind of a pain?
 
Mixing when using Zaino is very simple, about a 1/2 oz of product is enough for 2-3 apps.



If you are going to try it, order some Z8& Z6, omg...Z8 FTW .
 
Go with Meg's 21 it their best product great on all colors slight darkening but clear and reflective will give you 3 plus months of protection while holding its shine an slickness.

Yes Zaino is durable also Collonite also throw Duragloss 105 too.

3+ months is pretty good. Doesn't Zaino and Collinite last between 4-6 months though? If, so then maybe I should check into those.
 
There was a post on MOL where a guy tested the durability of #21 over several months through winter, think it was about 4 or 5 months, and it was still doing good. One important factor influencing the durability, is how the car is taken care of, so the durability will not be the same for each car/customer. Maybe you could teach them that when water stops beading when it rains, the protection is gone too?

I haven't used Collinite myself, so I can't comment for sure on application/removal. Zaino is easier to apply than Acrylic Jett, IME.



You'll likely be satisfied with any of those 3 products.

According to Meg's..NXT is there most durable product...and that is not saying much...it does look good when applied..but dies fast after washing...I have 2 8oz bottles of #21 from Meg's I won on E-bay...they say not for distribution..any ways I did my neighbors Mustang with it to see how it looks..It does look nice...very wet looking..but after a week or 2 of rain..it dwindled out...it was on 3 weeks prior to the rain..so in 5 weeks it was Blah..slickness fell off after a few washes...plus outside 24/7



He now uses Liquid Glass...and said it was better...tto each their own..



but to get 3+ months from #21 may be surprising..



Klasse twins topped with collinite will go 4+months easy...

I might seriously consider the collinite 845 for their vehicles then, since there's no question about it's durability being great. How easy is 845 to apply and remove?
 
I'd say go for Collinite. I've used #21 in the past and while it's good, I have a hard time judging how well it's protecting my finish after a month or two. I would think #20 would be about the same. The only advantage of going with #21 is you don't use a lot and it's very easy to apply. I've never used Collinite so I can't compare the two.
 
Of those listed Zaino is definitely the easiest to use. ZFX takes 10 seconds; it's removal that slows an LSP application down and make its more or less difficult. 845/476s can be a little tough to buff off (by a little tough, I mean a little, not a lot), same with AJ if you have any high spots etc... I think 476/845 will be the longest lasting, but when you're comparing LSPs with the durabilty of zaino/werkstatt/collinite "longer lasting" is usually a pretty insignificant amount of time.
