Dual action polisher or not to dual action polisher?

Great to hear!

Between every other month of applying 845, would you use the Werkstat Acrylic Jett Trigger and Acrylic Glos as a touch up, or something like Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Wax?

The griots machine will serve you well As for the 845, with a car parked outdoors and 2-coats applied, 3-4 months should be no problem. I'd reapply 845 every other month for maximum protection and polish once a year or less depending on your wash routine.

i'd use up the AJT until its done, that will probably be fine, but my favorite on 845 is Duragloss Aquawax. It looks great on lighter colors and metallics.

so you would then only clay and polish about twice per year?

I don't always polish after I clay, but twice a year would be ok as long as you are doing a gentle polish. Most of the time I end up using an AIO after claying on the daily drivers. I'm all about using the least abrasives I can to keep the paint looking great. Once you get going, you'll figure it out, there are no hard and fast rules, its all about how it looks to you.

I wouldn't want to polish that often myself...at least not with anything that's truly, functionally abrasive in the sense of removing deftects. Some stuff is sooo mild that it wouldn't be an issue, but you'd have to choose right. This is where the milder polishes, AIOs, and paint cleaners some in.

I generally just clay and re-LSP. OR even (warning, Autopian Heresy follows!) just redo the LSP.

Eh, the frequency of defect removal is a whole 'nother topic unto itself....

Every time I consider my Crown Vic, I think of how you'd just stick with only ZAIO on it....Hmmm, I just might leave it untopped for the forseeable future after all

DO IT! If you use it often enough you might even extend your claying intervals! So much less work and great results.

That's the part I'm not sure about....the "less work" and better dirt shedding  Not like either of us is wrong/right IMO, more like all the different little variables and preferences.

Yeah, I think I'll live with just the ZAIO on that car and see how it goes; I can run a comparison with the ZAIO/FK1000P combo I have on the Tahoe and see which one is easier for me to live with.

And on the Crown Vic (specifically) I have reservations about doing any topping anyhow...why layer on LSP just to hit some cones and have to redo those areas :nixweiss By the time I'm ready to quit abusing it and get some new bumpercovers (and some paintwork, oh man is this thing beat!), I oughta know which approach I like best.

I can't comment on the dirt shedding as I probably don't compare that as much as other variables, what I was referring to was the awesome cleaning action, it keeps you paint smoooooooth.

Yeah, this is where our differing priorities might factor in. But we'll see, I'm gonna give this a fair shake...open mind and all that.
