Drying with WW cloths

I have quite a few ww's from different vendors and I find that the shape and size of the towel determines how easy/hard it is to wring out. So far, my favorite is the Sonus Dur Wunder Drying Towel. I think it's basically square, and is very easy to wring out.

I usually grab the 2nd WW by the time the first one can be wrung out. I don't bother even trying. Those things can soak up lakes and not be wrung out.

:angry NEVER, NEVER I tell ya, will i forego my absorber it's the perfect drying instrument and lives up to its name because it ABSORBS tons of water. Of course the perfectionist side of me follows with a quick swipe from a terry cotton towel. In 12 years I've only used 3 and the last one I only replaced because I wanted the new COOL colored ABSORBER :xyxthumbs

WW all the way for me. It makes me laugh when I see the neighbours drying there car with a chamois, an hour later they are still drying the car with the chamois. A couple of minutes with the WW and im done.

I have a couple of Pakshaks big blue WW, I also find them difficult to wring out but never normally need to, 1 WW is enough to dry my medium sized hathback.

Me too. Paks WW are excellent quality!

You're both right Mik and dman, difficult to wring out. You're doing nothing wrong Mik, they're just *so* absorbent that they hold the water rather than release it.

I have a few Purple Passion WWs but not as absorbent, and you can wring them out easier.

I'm another Absorber fan. I'll always have a place for it in my detailing kit. But I just bought the Sonus drying WW and it is fantastic. After a couple of inferior WWs (Purple Passions), the Sonus WW may have made a convert out of me. I still won't throw away my Absorber because even the Sonus becomes saturated. Still, I am very impressed that the Sonus WW is my go-to drying towel.

Chamois Leather:

Genuine chamois leather is a unique and natural product, that is extremely soft, flexible, and absorbent

Typically chamois leather is used to dry off surfaces after washing; this is due to the absorbency and softness of the leather, the particles are held within the hollow fibre of the leather, eliminating abrasion. The chamois needs to be damp, but not wet to work.

Made by splitting the skin into two pieces; the selected sheepskins are 100% cod oil tanned to give the luxurious, golden, soft finish that can absorb six times its weight of water.

A Microfiber chamois (woven in a very similar texture) is a machine washable alternative that you don't have to soak before use and it releases dirt, brake dust and stains much easier that natural chamois (Groit's Microfiber Synthetic Chamois) doesn't dry hard, is very absorbent, easier to wring out and it will not `shed' and lasts longer and is less expensive than its natural counterpart.

Modem synthetic materials have gained ground and the use of chamois is being replaced by Microfiber waffle weave technology as they hold more water (approx. 5 times more water, therefore require wringing out less often) and will not `pull' wax from a paint surface. They also do not `dry stiff' like chamois nor do they have the `cod tanning' odour.

That's the deceiving part about a chamois. When you have to first soak the chamois with 5 times its weight of water, how impressive is the fact that it can absorb 6 times its weight?
