Drying with WW cloths

I used to do my drying using a genuine leather chamois. I then moved onto using synthetic Japanese Kanebo type chamois as they seem to have less drag and strip the LSP less.



I have now received some WW towels from Poorboys. However, they seem a little harder than what I expected. How should I use them? Will they mar the finish?

I would wash them first with a gentle cleanser. I believe WW are supposed to feel as plush as some high end MF towels. I have the Autopia brand (the grey) and it doesnt feel soft at all really. BUt i have been using it on all 3 of our vehicles since the beginning of summer without marring the finish. Just use low pressure when drying the car.
 
I think most WW dont feel soft at all (Ultimate drying towel is soft but it doesn't feel plush). People might be a little reluctant to use WW because of its texture but once they use it, they find no reason to stop using it.
 
Still can''t give up my "ABSORBER" been using this item for years without a problem. best part is they're washable and they last forever.

That's a great suggestion. I have so many of the syn chamois and haven't touched them in ages. Sounds like they could be used for doorjambs, etc. when you don't want to get your good WWs dirty.

WW's might seem a bit stiff even after coming out of the dryer. However, they soften up a lot after it soaks in the initial bit of water when you're drying. Just blot the washed car until it absorbs a bit of water first.

No you don't. They don't work as well. Most of the time it looks like it is spreading the water around. Overrated to the max. Save your money. Buy another absorber. Maybe use the waffle weave for your tires or engine. Or just use a simple terry cloth towel for your engine. You ain't missing nutin'

Waffle Weaves are far superior to a chamois, synthetic or natural. They only spread the water around if the WW is completely dry and you're wiping the water too fast.

I haven't touched my natural chamois since I got my WWs. My synthetic one is now used for one purpose: wiping the excess NXT protectant from my tires. That stuff is so oily! I can't wait til I run out so I can get some Wolfgang Gel.
 
Absolutely no problem with WW towels, they seem to get softer with use & frequent washings followed by air drying, just make sure all the soap gets rinsed out.

You need to bite the bullet and try a "quality" waffle weave.....
 
I will never go Back, the best thing I have ever learned here is WW. You just cant compare a good quality WW with anything else. TDMan, try another, you must have gotten a bad brand or something. Maybe wash yours with some white vinegar in the final rinse.



I have passed a few out to non autotopians and even the average guy is always blown away.



If yours seems hard when dry its probably your washing technique, try the vinegar thing. I load mine up by wiping down the windows first, gets them damp and nice and soft.
 
I tried one of my WW. I have to say that I am immpressed. I dried the whole car in a couple of minutes.



The only thing I noticed is that it is basically impossible to wring out the towel.



The towel dried very well when it was dry, but started to leave droplets when it became saturated. Should I use two towels and do the whole car with one first and finish off with the second?
 
That's what I do. I have 2 WWs...I use the first one until it starts to leave tiny droplets on the car, and then I hang it up to dry while I finish off with the 2nd WW. Works like a charm. :up
