Drying towels...need advice.

It`s about time for some new ones, especially with a new, dark blue car. I`ve used the rag company`s dry me a river in the past and like them, and that`s an option. I also have been eyeing their platinum pluffle. My other option would be towelpros waffle weaves. I don`t want to go crazy on price

Thoughts on the options above, or other suggestions??

Thanks.

Been loving Gyeon silk dryer, just Kay it on a wet panel let it absorb some water then pull it across the panel. Sucks up every drop!

Try and grab the Big Blue drying towels sold here. I`ve got 2 smalls and one medium. I can pretty much dry my whole car with one small towel. The large would probably be ok if you had a big van or a semi truck that you wanted to dry, but the medium I have is probably as big as I would go. I would be afraid of dragging the large one on the ground. The Big Blues are extremely plush and hold a ton of water, it would be hard to be much better. Catch them on sale (of course) because they are a little pricey.

The pluffles are nice. I prefer them over a waffle weave. The pluffles will be getting an upgrade by now having a suede border. Give one a shot and see if you like it. I am sure you will. Really nice towel.

The big blue`s are nice but they are too thick for me making it a bit harder to manipulate and handle. Which is why I passed them along after I had received them to review from the folks at Autogeek. I just read on either this forum or on autogeek about the big blue linting.

I love the big blues and right now autogeek has bogo on the small ones and acc will price match

I have the pluffle and it was nice when it was new but doesn`t dry as well as it did when it was new. I have the Griot`s PFM drying towel and 2 of the smaller big blue drying towels and I rather the Griot`s. That thing sucks up water like no other. It`s so large and thick that it is hard to wring out, and if you hang it up to dry it`ll take about 3 days before it`s dry. But those 2 negatives are not enough to make me stop using it. It almost feels like cheating when I dry my car with it cause it literally only takes about 3 minutes to dry the whole car. I use the 2 smaller big blues when I do rinseless washes.

Sometimes, it`s not about price. If you`d told me a year ago that I`d spend 38.99 on one towel, I would have told you that you were nuts. I did, however, spend that much on the Griots PFM, and it is worth every penny. It soaks up water like nothing I`ve used before, and I was always a fan of waffle weaves. It`s not that less expensive drying towels don`t work, but this one works better....a lot better.

I couldn`t have said it better.

I use Griots PFM`s for drying as well. I honestly don`t think I`ll ever go back to anything else. I prefer the smaller size and honestly - one of the smaller towels drys my entire car.

Since washing and drying is what causes the majority of damage I see, spending money on a good towel I think is a no brained. Griot`s pfm is the only towels we use now. Waffles are now for jambs and wheels

Have not tried the Big Blue yet (and probably wont) but I really had bad luck with the 3 pluffles I bought. They lint like MAD for me, no idea why. I do LOVE LOVE LOVE my GG PFM 16x16 towels though. They really are pure freaking magic. They soak up water like a magnet to metal. One 16x16 will do a Corolla/Camry sized car pretty easy. Having two or 3 is always a good thing. 2 for $20 is not as insane as I originally thought. They are better enough than the Dry Me A River towels to justify the price. I used to use the DMARs. Very good towels too.

my 2 cents about some of those towels mentioned and what I`ve used with great success

my recommendation would be non waffle weave design

I really like the big blue towels but I have the small and medium and still like the small and medium PFM better

I have two silk dryer`s and find them usually dedicated for use when I claybar a car to dry the clay lube up

the first quality towels I purchased were the blue waffle weaves from Rob at towelpros..good towels but I gave all mine away to clients as I liked my other options better

as far as waffle weave towels go...if you need a quality waffle weave towel, I`d look at Poorboys, that is one good waffle weave towel, it even feels better quality than the ag/acc waffle weave cobra towels

and as far as the price..well, yeah the PFM large towels are around $40 but worth every penny IMO yet one could get away with a pack of the smaller PFM towels as well, but those large ones are great for draping and dragging across wet, clean paint

As a side note....I`ve seen the smaller ones at local auto parts stores...in single packs for 9.99....worth looking at when the 2-packs go for 22.99. I`ve seen them at Pep Boys and Advance Auto Parts

IMHO Pluffles are the best ones out there.

I`m sure the Griots towels are nice - but the price is crazy.

ahhh, price is relative

I have over $150 of unopened drying towels (silk dryer, big blue, waffle weaves, large and small PFMs)

and I`m still interested in trying out "better" drying towels

but then again I`m deep into the rabbit hole, lol

but the PFM is my favorite by far

I`ve used the 16"x16" pfm and was impressed until I used the small big blue

small big blue lints on my black car but I did find the small big blue towels to be stellar at when I decide to make it rain Gold Zirkon on my SRT :) great for spreading that stuff
