Drying towel?

Short Cut that thing could have primer on it and it would be a better car than mine ;) :D

Nice finish. What did you use on it?

It is a 1994 which is cool to me for a couple of reasons. It is the last year that had the traditional 911 front end with the low hood and high headlight humps and the vertical headlight lenses. That is the body style that has imprinted on my brain of what a Porsche is supposed to look like. It also was the last year that Porsche sold a two wheel drive turbo. I searched for this model for over a year and invariably when I would find them for sale they were on the other side of the country or had too many performance "upgrades". I finally found this one about 45 minutes from my house and it is completely stock with only 27k miles on it.

Basically what I've done to the paint since I got the car was I started off using Maguiar's Mirror Glaze Polish #7 then I waxed it with their Hi Tech wax #26. This looked better but there were some swirlmarks that I wanted to get rid of and that's about the time I found this site.

I did the whole car with 3M SMR twice and I also used some Finesse It II on a couple of smaller areas. After the SMR I've been applying multiple coats of 3M Show Car Paste Wax. I've also been QDing with Maguiar's Final Inspection and their consumer labeled Quik Detailer. I also found out about Stoner Invisible Glass on this site and that has been a proven winner as well.

Thanks for all of the good info that lead me to such a clean car! :bounce

I am not a Porsche expert by any means, but I also believe that '94 was also the last year for air-cooling, and the tradtional Porsche pedals that stem from the floor. Not sure, but I vaguely remember reading about this in '95/'96 when I believe that water cooling was introduced. I could be totally off though.

You're pretty warm Dave. From what understand 1998 was the last of the aircooled motors. 1997 was the last Turbo aircooled. The 1999 model year was the introduction of the newest bodystyle and a liquid cooled engine.

Hey Sal...

Check out a thread Luster (Bill) did on TID (it's in the "Washing, Drying and Claying" section) about everyones choice for drying a car, there's a poll with the thread.

Lots of good info.

I checked it and got the big blue towel from some people other say waffle weave and fluffy toewel. Just curious on the other towels besides the big blue.

Most of what I have are Pakshak towels, but yesterday I dried a car using a towel I bought from WalMart.

Use whatever towel you like. There are lots to choose from, so try a few and find one that works for you.

i purchased an ultimate drying towel from chemical guys and it worked quite well for me. the yellow one thats 24x36 or something like that. but once i correct my paint i'll be going the leaf blower route.

My favorite drying towel is the ultra-soft waffle-weave from PakShak. I've tried several different drying towels, and this works best for me.

Every once in a while I will buy a nice waffle weave towel for drying cars. I just purchased 4 from Auto geek

But I just recently found a really nice quality drying towel at Target of all places. And they are only $7 and some change. They are very nice, and cheap too :)

My most recent drying towel purchase was at Walmart a few months back. It was nice and plush and very absorbent. It was made be Armor All. Unfortunately, they are no around. Guess they didn't sell well.:(
