Drought Bucket Wash - OGSO vs Protectall

Well, i'm a bucket wash expert now. I compared OG Show Off

with Protectall Quick & Easy Wash. It's been three weeks and I

think I'm sold on the OGSO. They both lift the dirt from your

finish but what I liked about the OGSO is that it supplies

a slickness which helps protect against possible marring.

The ProtectAll lacked this slickness.



To tell ya the truth, it's real hard to tell the difference between

a full wash and a bucket wash. No wonder why some have

adopted this method for their routine wash. It's not for a muddy

SUV or something in that range but the bucket wash can be

used for anything less. Plus no hoses to pain with.



My car has run in the rain a number of times in the last three

weeks and has gotten pretty dirty. I've been concerned about

scratching but as time goes by I am not discovering any. Hope

this keeps up. Hope this helps other Droughtee's.
 
I've been periodically using the Protect-All Quick and Easy on my black bimmer. At first, I didn't notice any swirls and the product seemed to be safe, but over the weekend I noticed some swirls on my car when viewed under the sun. I can't say for sure if those were caused by using the Protect-All because it's been a while since I closely examined my car under the sun.



rd_volvo, do you still use the spray-bottle method?

I put about an ounce of OGSO in a gallon spring water

container and pour the mixture in an old Show Off bottle.



I use about 1 spray bottle per wash and I feel the pre-soak

really breaks the initial bond the dirt may have on the finish.



I spray a panel and wait about 30 sec's then wipe with

the washmitt. This may be preventing the swirley's.
 
I used to bucket wash all winter, didn't want the hose pipes to freeze. You get really good at it. Luckily I have a heated garage now with a full hose at work :) good to see autopians adapt :up

I haven't had any swirling/scratching problems at all with Q&E-I've been using it on my Accord for nearly 7 years now, and some of my long term customers have cars that I've been using it on them for up to 7 years (a 1995 LS400) and also on black cars in the sun (no shade was available) without nay problems. The only time I even get any streaking is when I try to wash too large an area at a time and I go over the nearly dry paint with a dry towel-but that is my fault, not the products.

I use the chenelle style wash pads, btw.

ProtectAll Q&E is an excellent product. Just like the little extra

glide the OGSO is giving me. Both products work just fine.

I might have to try OGSO for my car--but when I can get a gallon of Protect All for $35 and wash 200 cars...I think you can see where I am headed with this :D
