Driveway completed! time for details!

I finally had my driveway completed and drove on it last night...man what a change...

Here is the album of the work that was done. Chad Thomason : photos : Driveway Reconstruction Pictures - powered by SmugMug

Also, i had a webcam setup to capture the progress and captured 1 pic per minute to make a timelapse video.

That had to cost a mint.

Right now in MI its ~$120 a yard, you gotta have close to 30 yards there if not more. Then labor.....my god.

Man, that's a big driveway you have there. How you can host some meets in your area. Nice and sweet area you have there.:up

Nice! Looks super. I really like concrete driveways. Unfortunately in the Northeast where I live concrete is not the best option due to freezing and thawing (frost heaves, cracking etc.) so we are stuck with bituminous concrete (asphalt) unless we want to be more creative using pavers, stone or some other option.

Looks great. Enjoy it.

cost wasn't too bad...well, ok it was, but it was worth it...

the previous driveway was a wreck. No one took care of it for 20 years. When i moved in, it was already a lost cause. Snowblowing it left rocks all over the yard and the garage floor was never clean.

I'm a fairly anal guy and the look of the driveway drove me nuts.

I had 40 yards overall. around a cost of $100 per yard. the rebar was killer...2 bundles at $900 a pop plus taking the old driveway out plus labor, so the cost came in around $9500.

I still have to grade the yard in some spots and fill in other spots, but i'll wait until its a better time of year to grow grass.

Nice

Hope you didn't have any crazy kids or adults scratching their John Hancocks in the concrete. I really hate that!

We just did are driveway but it is tiny compared to yours :) and we did asphalt.

Great looking driveway Chad; nice to see it's all finished. Did you have to let it dry for two weeks before you could drive on it? You're going to be so happy now, the price for what you got doesn't seem that bad. Paving a large section like that here is very pricey.

Loved the webcam, thanks for setting that up. :2thumbs:

I think you must come up with something else to call that, something more appropriate "driveway" simply does not do it justice!!

Can some one say, detail fest?

Kudos

I have a 2 stage snowblower that would love to take this task on...after 5 years of blowing snow and small rocks through it, the blower will welcome the change.

My two-stage has sorta met its match at our new place...it was plenty for our old house, but now that I can't blow to two sides (and thus have to move it maybe 50 feet) I have to do things in stages (I keep putting off spending the big bucks for a new blower, the double-digit hp ones are pricey). Looks like that won't be a problem here (blow from center to each side) but I was still curious.
