Dressing wheel wells

Is there a spray on product, or do you need to actually get in there and wipe it down? It's not so bad when the inner fender wells are plastic, but I have olders cars with rustproofing in the fenderwells.

Saw cars on the road today that looked good, but you could see the inner fender wells weren't touched (kinda that light brown color). Made the car look half done.
 
For those types, I have used a roller or brush to apply a black paint. The brush/roller applies the paint with a rougher texture and eliminates overspray problems.
 
Don, thanks. I'm considering either painting it black or just shoting it down with a tire dressing to see if it gets darker.
 
I have painted some wheel wells for a permanent solution.

Recently I used some SEM undercoating(PN 39463) in the wheel wells of my accord. Turned out really well. I cleaned them, cleaned them again with tar and wax remover, masked everything off, then sprayed thin coats. The look was jet black, but flat, just what I wanted.

Sounds like you could just hit it with a water base dressing cut 50/50 with water. I like meguiars #40 or armorall for wheel wells.
 
I used Poorboy's Bold N Bright on my plastic wheel wells this past weekend and they look great. I did rub the product in with a terry applicator pad.

Are you talking about the rear wells of the Accord? I partially painted my gf's, the fronts are plastic.

I use Megs Engine Kote for wells and when thats used up Im going to go with a floor shine like Mop n Glo. I'm convinced they are extremely similar substances. Once my wells start looking dirty or after a bit of bad weather I would clean and redress them.
 
Mop-n-Glo, that is a new one. Little easier to put that into the shopping basket and not get an eye roll from the better half. Is Mop-n-Glo an apply and leave product?
 
If your using a silicon based product and it rained, couldn't the stuff get on the face of your tires and make them slick (less traction)? What about water based...coudln't the same thing happen? Any exp with this?

Fronts too, yes parts are platic. It has been three months with weekly cleanings no problems.

I will post pics if you would like.

even if next week the undercoating starts to peel, I will clean and repaint. Not that big of a deal at all. So far, so good.
 
Ben you can spray on the mop n glo just like cother dressings. As fpr the paint on the rear wells of the Honda, i just got a very close color match auto spray paint from WalMart. It was more or less matte, matched the look of the existing paint .You could get spray paint from your dealer though

Still use Megs EK for wells. Dries hard. Use it on all suspension parts as well.

While several people have mentioned using Meg's Engine Kote for different purposes, there seems to be some discussion about Meguiar's discontinuing the Engine Kote product.
The Mop n Glo use has come up a few times as a possible replacement for it.

Hi guys,

Yes, I first heard about the Mop n Glo from a member on Autopia, then news came out that EK is dying out so I investigated his tip and found indeed the 2 products are quite similar and can be sprayed on in the same way. I only use the EK now but when my supply is gone Mop n Glo and likely its generic equivalent is the way I'm going. Wow, I really wish I knew about this years ago, so much money wasted on tire foams, sprays and nothing but disappointing, short-lived, dusty results
 
Is the mop-n-glo a spray on and leave deal, or do you need to wipe it down? Willing to do either, but if it's just a spray on and leave product, then that's a big +.
 
I'll be placing it in a spray bottle and just spraying it on. A guy told me wiping it can be quite a mess. I suppose I'll experiment with both ways to see which works best for me

Too pricey for a wheelwell application. I use a cheap dressing like TireWet but only for this purpose. Paint the wells? I've heard of it, but I wouldnt do it.
