Dreaming of spring....

I can feel the love...... :D

Petty jealousy!

....For years my in-laws were snowbirds at a condo in Cocoa Beach. The Mrs. and I would take a 10 day to 2 week vacation almost every year in winter. There's nothing like getting on a plane in Syracuse, NY in the freezing cold of winter and getting off the plane in Orlando to bright sunshine and 78F. And then there's napping on the beach to the sound of the surf....ahhhhhhhhhhhh.

That was then....these days, in winter, I hibernate like big ole bear!

Supposed to be in the upper 20's tonight but we might get lucky and have sun and low 50's for the weekend. Lucky us!

I bought the truck in January. With some reservations, I got the Auto Armour rust proofing and undercoating. However, by spring I was noticing some bare spots on the frame and fender wells. I spoke with the salesman who introduced me to the subcontractor that does the work who said "no problem, we'll respray it." So I took it in, they had a look and said "this is really dirty under there, we'll have to rent a power washer."
Say what?
I tell 'em I have a power washer at home...I'll go home and power wash it and come back. I power washed it really, really good (took off some more of the coating), took it back and had it resprayed as i watched. In talking with the guy, I learned I could bring it back annually for inspection and respray at no charge.

footnote: Hindsight is 20/20. I recently learned about lanolin based Fluid Film and if I had it to do over, I think I might go that route instead (even though Fluid Film would require an annual respray).

Update: I've used Fluid Film for a couple of external applications and although I think it would work well in internal nooks and crannies (like inside doors, rocker panels and such) it doesn't stand up to weather very well on external surfaces. I'm not sure it would be the best undercoating product.
