Double Sided Polishing Pads

THat is the edge 2k system or a crafty rip off of it. To answer yes I have used the edge 2k system which is double sided. It works pretty good and I have never had problems with sling when both sides of the pad have had product on them. THe only problem I have had is you have to put your foot on your polisher to pull the pad off which is a real PITA.

Is there any reason why these pads would be great for weekend warriors and not professionals?

I couldn't say for certain since I haven't used many brands of pads and compared all the intracicies of one against another through first hand experiences, but from what I gather from reading posts and manufactuers web sites / specifications, the Edge 2000 pad system takes some of the guess work out of centering pads, picking the right backing plate, reducing the time it takes to switch pads through their quick change adapter, etc, all of which makes it more fool proof for the weekend warrior in addition to being bit quicker with less hassles for the pro.

Another kool thing about the Edge 2000 pads is you can buy their pads with each half setup differently (i.e. 50ppi / 70ppi or wool / 70ppi, etc), which makes their pads even more versatile for some people. So if you find yourself using a particular combo quite often, then you can buy a pad with that combo and simply flip the pad over when you want to use a different foam or wool. I think it's a pretty slick system from what I've seen and I put a few calls into Edge directly to test their customer service and I was again impressed. I just bought a couple sets of these pads to detail eight of my work trucks in addition to our passenger & collector cars, but I won't have a chance to try them out until I recover from surgery, although I'm happy with what I've seen so far after receiving and inspecting their products first hand.

Cost is the only reason I said that . A pro may not give thought to cost of these pads , where as someone that detailers once a year or only on weekends may question spending the extra dollars . People here look at the Edge 2000 pads and say why should I spend $18 for this pad when I can buy pad B for $7 . :buffing:

these pads are nice...Huey Chemical has about the best price on them...

....if you send for there wholesale catalog the price is even better....
