I have noticed that the bottoms of my doors are starting to rust. :hairpull I was wondering if I take a Dremel to it then prime it and paint it would that help stop it from making my cars doors rust through?? Please Help my baby!

Rust is a very hard issue to deal with. It is hit and miss whether it will come back or not.

Cleaning dirt/salt out of your door jambs is crucial. Neglecting to do this allows rust to form, and THEN people become concerned with it.

The bottom of doors are often more complicated than a simple bit of sheet metal. You could try sanding off the rust and then priming/painting it. You may or may not win the battle.

If you try sanding/grinding then priming and painting, make sure you remove ALL the rust (every speck!) then *immediately* coat any bare metal with a rust inhibiting filler. This is the best way to prevent it from coming back any time soon. Good luck!

If you're gonna try this yourself: a) it probably will come back :( b) it's harder than you'd think to do a decent job, c) use both mechanical means and a rust killer to remove as much rust as you can, and d) you'd better also use something like Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator (better, in my experience, than POR-15).

Then pull your door panels and spray some kind of rust inhibitor inside the doors, watching that you don't clog the drain holes. The inhibitor will creep into the seams and slow down the rusting that you can't get to.
