Done in all DuraGloss products

Today after the rain stopped I decided to work on the truck...

I used all Duragloss products...

Washed with Duragloss shampoo

Polished with #671 SMR..this polish is like AIO..it has some micro abrasive's ,cleaners and some sealant also..It did a good job of removing the light marring I had..it works for a long time..no dusting or gumming up...it left the paint with a nice finish...glossy and slick...only downside was it was a little effort to remove..not bad..but not as easy as taking the sealants off....

next applied the the #601 bonding agent..this stuff goes on real easy..on lighter colors it may be hard to see it on the paint... it goes on almost clear until hazed..on the red I could just see it going on..

next was the #105 Total Performance Polish...This stuff is a breeze to put on...I used a foam applicator ..I put a drop the size of a quarter to start the hood with...it did the whole hood stuff just spreads easy...and goes on thin...did the whole truck...with probably a half ounce...this stuff just spreads....

While waiting for it to haze over..I did the trim and window rubbers with the #253..Tire and Matt dressing...was told I could use it on plastic trim..so I did...leaves a nice finish...not glossy..but not matte...more of a natural look...more coats would make it glossy...dries nice..no streaks...used a foam wipe to put it on...to bad I can't do the tires yet..still muddy roads..seems a waste now...

cleaned the rims with the #101 polish cleaner..let haze removed and applied the 105 on after...did a good job cleaning the rims...

The 105 was in direct sun while doing this..so hazed up nice...removed it with 2 MF towels..it comes off easier then any product I have used so far...no effort at all to remove

the final out come was WOW...it did leave a nice finish..darkened my paint some...it was clear and glossy and WET..and slick as snot...wiped down one more time to ensure it was all off...

Did not use AW yet..it looked like rain was coming so I picked up and called it a day....

the products work together and leave a shine to beat...

some pictures..not to good as it was getting overcast ..they do not do the shine justice..way better looking than the pictures

the hood after the buffing 105 off

I started a thread about that product. http://www.detailcity.org/forums/de...ng.html?highlight=duragloss+tire+mat+dressing

No respones so I bought some yesterday when I was over the border. I will try it out soon.

Ahh.... nothing quite like the shine of Zain...er...Duragloss. :D Red is a good color to use that stuff on. Then again.... I like everything on red. I just feel it is a good color to show off any product. Great work. :bigups

Red is a great color when it looks like that!! Nice job!!

Is the bonding agent anything akin to Z1..? What exactly is it supposed to do for the detail?

It certainly has the looks. If the durability is even half as good as the look I'd say it's a winner, especially considering the price. Great looking truck!

One word, Al - WOW!!!! :bigups :bigups

I'm still trying to make time, weather & work cooperate to do the hood of the V before our trip to give it a good durability test.

CW...I got ahold of some Z1 today from a guy at work...He seen my truck from the other side of the parking lot and came over..asked me how I liked the zaino...lol...told him it was duragloss....scratched his head..asked how much for the products...told him under 25.00 for all products....

Told him about the bonding agent...which helps the DG bond and harden up the acrylics....he pulled out his Z1 from the trunk and said like this..gave it to me to take home to compare them..to tell the truth..they both look and Feel ALIKE...

but yes..the bonding agent acts like Z1....used the same way also..put the bonding agent on..leave it..put your sealant over it...buff off after a hazing..

this stuff is wild....putting on another coat today....

RTexasF..I tested durability already...on the Honda it went all winter into spring with the Duragloss111 sealant..and it lasted like a champ...was beading still in MAY..not as slick..but gloss was there and beading..it is still on and I touch it up with Aquawax now..so slickness is back..but that car is next to get the complete job...

Also ...I put 1 coat of Aquawax on my truck 1st of May..it lasted till July 6th ..with 40 days of rain so far since May 1st...Thats durable..it has acrylics and polymers in it..NO wax

What a dope I am! I do remember reading that now, sorry.
This line of products seems to have it all together.....I feel my credit card quivering in my pocket.

Today I got the 3rd coat on...that's it..done...very reflective...deep looking..and very wet looking..and slick like I never felt...the picture with the bottle and microfiber towel kept sliding ..so I dampened the bottom of the towel to keep it there...

Now I will just maintain it with Aquawax....we are suppose to get another week of rain here...so I will see how it reacts to rain...

Thanks

Al...

The truck looks awesome.

Does anyone know if the duragloss polishes with cleaners contain mechanical or chemical cleaners?

Thanks guys...

I'm using aquawax, fast clean n' shine, #111 and waiting for my total performance polish as I type.

Every product (so far) has exceeded my expectations.

It is a very light chemical cleaner..no abrasives...the cleaner is meant to clean what a shampoo leaves... Fallout..contaminents..or any dying LSP..it will not remove any freshly applied LSP..it can be layered..

I have 3 layers of 105 on now..you can see it get thicher as you layer it...and so deep and wet looking...the finish is very clear...no muting of the paint...

I have just about tried every product they make..and not one has dissappointed me....they do as they claim and much more...

Best bang for the Buck

AL I got my order from DuraGloss it came really quick.
I called them and talked to Bill he is one of the brothers that owns the company. I told him that I had a gallon of meg# 80 and I was going to use that to remove scratches my truck has 114,000 miles and paint is not in the best shape. Bill told me that if I used the meg80 do not use the bonding agent just apply the 105 right over the meg polish.
Hope mine looks half as good as your truck.
My local carquest sells the 111 polish $7.95 a bottle.
With that shine and durability and you can buy at any NAPA or carquest without waiting and paying $ 10.00 shipping like so many other products makes this a very good deal.

It will come out good....prep is 90%..LSP is 10%....it is sorta like what you see is what you get..lol....

I have told others..any good paint cleaner or polish will work as a base..AIO...Werkstatts Prime...Megs Premium paint cleaner..nice stuff..glad i stocked up..the bonding agent just cleans and has a accellerator in it...I believe it sets up the finish a bit faster...even Jerry said any good polish will work...

well take some pics when done...and have fun...

Al,

sorry to bring up a month old post, but I have question for you. First of all, the truck looks great. I'm considering going with Duragloss on my vehicles for the winter, but am not quite sure on the application of the #601 PBA. Is this stuff supposed to just be layed on like a wax, or does it need to be worked in like a paint cleaner? I've seen you (or someone else) say you apply it by hand, so I'm assuming there isn't much "working" of the product going on. Any help will be appreciated, TIA.

Nick

apply the 601 by hand..it is a white creamy lotion....leave it on..do not wipe off..wait about 20 minutes apply either the 105 or 111 sealant(polish)..the 105 looks better...

Now if you want a liitle system that works real nice...follow this..

polish if need to..clay also before polishing

wash car....

Use Fast Clean and Shine after drying...leaves the car slick and helps spreading the PBA thin

apply PBA ..bonding agent...let sit for 10-20 minutes to haze...but leave it on ..do not buff off

if you have Aquawax..apply a quick lite spritz to your applicator you are going to use to put the sealant on with...I use a Meg's foam applicator...or the polish pal..

put the sealant on ..let haze...30 minutes ..wipe off....

NOW...if you are going to more layers...3 is nice...before doing a 2nd layer wipe down car with AW after a wash ...then apply your sealant...do this before each layer after the initial first one...

Also spritz the pad with AW again like first time..

Sorta like doing Zaino ...AW adds a gloss enhancer before sealant..plus helps spread it nice and thin....

wait at least 24 hours between coats....I did 3 in 2 weeks spread...

but doing Aw before applying sealant and spritzing pad makes a world of difference....

I give credit to this method to a buddy of mine who did it like this...his truck is AWESOME looking...a mile thick ..wet as rain...

any questions just ask....Glad to help

you will like what you see..

Al,

Sounds like a great system. I'll definately have to give a try, but that means I need some FC&S (from the way things sound, it's totally worth it). I was under the impression that the PBA acted like an AIO type paint-cleaner, which in my mind would require machine application. I like the idea of doing it by hand better, so you've basically told me exactly what I wanted to hear. Thanks so much for your help. :yay:

It will make it look deep...does not darken color ...maybe a weeeeeny bit..but not like NXT or GC...and it does not fill...I heard some have used Chemical Guys Extreme acrylic glaze and it filled and darkened the paint and then they applied 105 over it...

Also some have gone over RMG...and a few other glazes also...do not know how it will effect bonding and durability...never tried it...but the extreme glaze should be fine....not oily from what I hear....
but 105 will make it wet and deep .....

P.S...I heard some topped it with straight waxes like natty's blue...collinite...souveran....max wax...GC... ..and it deepened the paint and also filled in some lite marring...I seen pics with Natty's Blue on top of 105 and it looked great....
