Dollar Tree microfibers! Best in the world!

The Dollarama towels I saw were in sealed plastic with a cardboard back. I think the brand name was Simons. They were a darker green. I opened one in the store and it didn't feel quite nearly as soft as the Dollar Tree towels but they would be fine for glass and interior bits.

The Walmart in New Braunfels Tx, sells microfiber towels in the car cleaning section. They come in a set of five for $5.00. They are a 70/30 blend and haven't tried them yet. Hopefully they turn out to be decent.

My dollar tree guy said they sell out of these as fast as they get them, but I found one stuffed under some dishcloths. Maybe the guy had too many to pay for and was coming back later. I hope so.

But Wall Mart has the Scotch Bright micro fiber polishing cloth for about 2.25. They are slicker than the ones at dollar tree and are for fine polishing. They are about 12" square, but they have a hem around the edge and the instructions caution against rubbing fine surfaces with the hem. Otherwise the cloth is said to be positivly scratchless.

I know what you mean. It's the same moniker they have for teflon safe scrubbing pads. But if anybody has the bucks to cover their as-s on faulty products, I guess it has to be 3M. The cloths are supposed to deliver "lint free, streak free, scratch free results". Among other uses, they are supposed to be excellent for camera lenses. Do you know what a crazy photographer would do if this stuff scratched his $3000 long glass? I shudder to think about it. I wouldn't want to be the pres at 3M.

They are "85% polyester and 15% nylon".

"Made from US and Japanese fibers, cloth assembled in Mexico".

There you have it. What could be more reassurring?

Hey, atldave

I got 2 of the Scotch Bright thingies, so I'll trim the hem on one and see what happens. But, uh, shouldn't you be the one doing this? After all, you drive the Lex and I pedal the Toy.

Nah. Just kidding. I'll let you know.

I went to every dollar tree store in town. I was able to find 19 of them. I have been using micro-fiber for a couple years. These are awesome for the money. I e-mailed dollar tree and asked them if I could buy a couple gross from them. I have not heard from them yet.

Okay... Do NOT cut off the hem. I repeat - DO NOT TRIM THE HEM. You will get little fibers all over everthing and your wife will kick your as-s too.

Don't know about the mix. Maybe the Japans are making the poly and the US is making the nylon, and they are out-producing again.

But I suspect the extra poly is to make a slicker cloth (for better or worse). That would be in line with lens cleaning. They might not pick up moisture as well. On the other hand, they might be better for buffing. I have these, one Dollar Tree, and I have the awesome MF towel I got with my BF new car kit so I'll check it out when this bloody rain lets up in Louisiana.

you know what I think is funny, autopia has gone from worshipping $20+ towels, to scouring dollar stores!! :D (not that its a bad thing, mind you..)

Could you let us know how this pans out? I wonder what kind of break, if any, you might get.

Went back to DollarTree again today with a copy of the picture MildSeven posted. I got to speak with the manager. He didn't know what a microfiber towel was. I described it for him and then ran out to the car a showed him one. Am I warped or what?

He said the trucks come on Friday. They inventory it over the weekend and stock the shelves on Monday. He also said that most of the time, he doesn't know what's coming in on the truck. I gave him my name and number if he sees them, and I promised that I would be back Monday afternoon.

Mine aren't Scotch Brite, they just just Dollar Tree Dist. on the back, so I wonder if they're diff. Sorry your wife had to smack you around, you can just blame me.

I can't afford to waste a dollar since losing my job and all my money on some stupid web hosting company.

Just can't bring myself to part with the car though.

We both drive Toyota's, yours is just newer and worth more. I think I'll jost fold them in half and use 2 sides then throw them in wash.

I've had Honda's, Mazda's, and this is my second Lex (I put 240,000 miles on my 92 SC400) and I'm a customer for life. Never had a single problem with either car other than very small things that Lexus gladly took care of for free.

Anywhoo, I'm getting off the subject.

I wanted a newer SC300 or a SC400 but insurance didnt like it as much so I got my accord Coupe.
