Does type of Carnuba Wax matter?

I'm a new member at DC, have browsed the forums for a while. For my first post I have a question.
I generally use carnuba as my LSP. I like the look and feel better than sealants or synthetics.
Do you guys think it matters what brand carnuba wax is used for LSP? I generally use Meguiar's but it seems like it wouldn't matter which brand I used as long as it was mostly Carnuba. The price is sometimes really good on some of these like Kit wax at ~$3 and I tried one and thought it really looked just as good.

Preperation/process is 90% of the appearence.

Get a nice surface prep and use a good wax, you'll notice a difference.

Yes there is a difference. Try a few and get an idea of differences.

I agree find what you like and use it often and youR car will look good for years.

In this case I don't want to say that the higher priced wax is better..but a paste wax costing 30 bucks verses a 3 buck wax there is...How? IMO its in the quality of the product, how long it lasts and clarity and depth of the shine...

As suggested buy a paste wax in the 20 to 30 area and do a side by side on your car..mu guess is you will see the difference..lastly..prep...prep...prep is key to a top end finish!!

Looks are purely subjective, but durability is a lot easier to quantify. The Collinite waxes both look very good and are very durable. They are also very reasonably priced. They are priced in the mid teens. You may think that is expensive versus your $3-10 waxes, but when you consider that the waxes you are using probably last 3-8 weeks (depending on conditions) versus the 4-7 months that Collinite 476 last, which one is cheaper per application?

I'll have to try some of the different waxes out there. I usually use Meguiar's Gold but I just waxed the car after a good prep(not clay bar but cleaner wax then polish then wax). I waxed with Gliptone carnuba which was on sale for 2.99 per bottle. It really looks good, which made me think that maybe I could use some of the cheaper waxes with a good prep. Time will tell how it holds up though.

As everyone pointed out prep will be the key.
There will be a difference between the manufacturers. The difference is in the ingredients, the quality and quantities of the ingredients will make each one different.
You just have to find one that gives you the look and the durability that you are after.

If you want to use something that is not expensive get Duragloss 105 it is only $9.95 and will give awesome gloss and last WWAAaay longer than the cheap waxes.

5spd,

Do yourself a favor and try some Natty's, Blackfire, P21S, Dodo Juice or a similar quality carnauba. As mentioned above, much of the result will be subjective; however, I'd be surprised if you were disappointed.

You don't have to go to the $100+ products to get great results. (But I'd like to try.)
