Does size matter?

Get your minds out of the gutter. :nono . I'm talking about the size of the water beads on your car. I have been AIO under carnuba, and I was getting nice big beads and the car was so slick that they would pool up in the corners while I was driving in the rain.

Over the weekend, I used Griot's Spray wax, and today in the rain, the car is covered in tiny little beads that don't pool at all. So...

1. Do different products bead differently?

or

2. It griot's just washing off? I'm really dissapointed with the stuff.

Different products bead differently, some don't bead at all. Use common sense. If you see water reacting a certain way a week after you apply a sealant, wax, ect, and 4 weeks pass, you've had tremendous rain and bad weather, and you see the reaction different than how it was a week after the application. Time to reapply.

Well, I dont like it. It doesn't have that, "my owner cares about me" look. Is it ok to put something else on top of it, or do I need to strip it off again with AIO?

The "tiny little beads" are from the increased surface tension from the recent application of Griot's Spray wax.

Beading, be it small, large, or tight, and sheeting are much discussed topics here. Do a search and you will find a lot of opinions. Here is one thread to get you started:

But back to your questions:

1. Yes, different products can bead or sheet differently, and if you don't care for the Spray wax I wouldn't worry too much about it. After some more rain or a good wash or two I doubt that much, if any, will still be there. I haven't used that product, so I'm just guessing about the durability.

2. I would say that since you noticed a change in beading, after the Griot's had been applied, that it has not washed off yet. Observing the beading pattern is just one way to determine when your LSP is changing.

After a good wash you should be able to top it with a wax w/o having to use AIO.
