Does S&W leave behind a coating of some kind?

Hi.. I love S&W and use it a lot. My question is.. does S&W clean and then kind of leave a "seal" over the paint again or does it simply clean and remove the dirt and leave no residue behind. The reason I ask is that my paint always feels so smooth and glossy after S&W, almost too smooth to be just a cleaner. If S&W does leave behind a coating of some sort, am I safe to put a sealant over it? Or should I do an actual car wash (good old soap and water) before putting another layer of sealant on? I did a search but did not see this asked anywhere. Thanks!

S&W doesn't leave anything behind, which is why Steve recommends to use it after a wash to remove soap residue. It emulsifies/removes everything. Therefore your feeling the natural state of your paint.

:yeah and if your finish was in good shape before it became dirty, basically it is returning it to the state it was in . We sell this to many street rodders who have their car in flat primer and they use it to remove the shiny spots they get from road grime or grease and it returns it to it's flat original color...try some on vinyl or leather and you'll see it leave nothing to make it slick or shiny:hippi

Thanks a lot for the feedback, guys. S&W must really be doing a good job then at removing the dirt back to my original sealant layer. I'm glad it's not leaving anything behind. Right now I am doing about 4 S&W "washes" to every 1 soap and water car wash.. I love this stuff!

Yep, S & W is the "ideal" product for insuring that the surface is free of "other stuff" before apply a coat of wax or sealant.

I just S&W'd my car again today and it still amazes me how smooth and slick the surface is after I'm done. As I posted in my original message it totally feels like it re-sealed the surface but I know it's just removing the dirt and film back to my original layer of sealant which should still be there. I also noticed that my car was glossier after cleaning with S&W than when I washed it with soap and water last time. I don't get what's going on there but maybe it's cleaning the surface even better than the soap and water somehow. Anyway, this stuff rules and definitely surpassed my expectations. I'm going to put another coat of sealant on tomorrow and hopefully that will take me through the summer!

I have done the S&W/QD+/S&G with a base of UPPX3 and Natty'sX2 with good results. I just applied a third coat of Natty's using S&G to take it off with after it hazed and really loved the result. I recently read a post from GSRStilez where he removed UPP with OCW. It would be interesting to try removing the UPP with S&G and the next time I do a full application of sealent, I'm going to give it a try.

Actually, with those products, just remember to use the S & W first. Then, use either/both of the others in either order. However, I would probably go QD+ and then, after a few hours... S & G.

Can you mix some S&W with S&G (or other QD) at 50/50 mix for use after you wash the car and as you dry it? I played around the last time I washed the car with using QD (I had some Meg's Quik Detailer) as I dried the car for some extra pop. I thought maybe a 50/50 mix might make it squeeky clean and give it the extra pop.

Absolutely! I'm using a 50/50 mix of S & W and "any" of my other QD's. Once I've used most of them up, I will be going with a 50/50 blend of S & W and S & G for drying! :bigups

What do you guys think about S+W for a clay lube?
For sure... works great! :bigups I even dilute mine with some distilled water when using as a clay lube.
