does DACP always cut it for the first step for the swirls in most cars?

I was reading many articles, and it seems as if everyone use DACP as there first product step in order to remove some swirls. Anyone ever go down the line a little further in the meguairs line to achieve swirl free results? Or another product used before DACP to get those nasty swilrs out, expecially on dark colored vehicles.

Thanks

I'd say swirls must really be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Some can be removed with just #9/#82 or equivalant product.

Generally, you want to try the lease aggressive product, then step up if needed.

Hope that helps.

Because there are so many products out there and I am still pretty new to this, and not a professional, I use Poorboys products. His swirl mark removers come in 3 different grits with #3 being the most aggressive.

Most posters seem to think that DACP is slightly more aggressive than Poorboys #2 but less aggressive than #3. So, that said, I use his Pro Polish first to see if that will cut the swirls. If that is not enough I go to SSR1, or 2 etc.

Keeping it simple makes it much more fun for me and I don't have to research so much or buy from several different places.

I've had great success with removing 98% of swirls with my PC and a Meg's 8006 polishing pad using Meg's #82 Swirl Free Polish. Plan on spending some time polishing each section with this setup as it is a very mild combo BUT very safe (you won't put in more swirls than you take out). I actually prefer using #82 SFP over #83 DACP for swirl removal because you do not have to break down the #82 like you do the #83. You polish wet and remove wet, if the area needs more buffing you simply apply more product.

#83 is a great product for surface defects that the #82 can not remove such as slightly etched water spots or deeper swirls/scratches.
