Does anyone make a decent portable vac?

ok getting tired of driving around looking for a gas station with a vacum (which always end up eating my money).

Is anyone having any recent success with a portable vac?

I stopped by the local Oreck dealer and he wouldn't even try to sell his version of the car vac.

My red carpets are becoming a hassle.

do either have a cigarette lighter outlet/ rechargeable?

this one is rechargable

The problem with rechargable is that I have never found one that keeps a charge long enough to vacuum the car to my satisfaction.

Look at the Oreck car vac. Plugs into the lighter and has decent power for $39.95 and if you get it from them, you get a second one for half price if you want. If it needs more than the Oreck, the shop vac comes out.

Edit: sorry about that....why wouldn't the Oreck dealer sell you their vac???

I heard good things about the Metro Vac N Blo cost around $160.00 comes with a sh#@ load of tools and is very powerfull, you can also purchase a spining brush attacment for carpets & floor mats I don't think this will plug in to your lighter .

I am a big big fan of the DeWalt portable shop/vac. It's a little bigger than the ones mentioned above (though they also sell a smaller version), and can run on 110vac or batteries (which of course are not included).

The DC500 is what I have. It's as powerful as any "normal" shop/vac I've used, even on battery power (you get about 20 minutes per charge). The DC515K looks interesting if you need something smaller, since it can be used in a dustbuster mode, or can separate the hose . . . .
