Does anyone know of a touch up paint to cover road rash on factory alloy rims?

Does anyone know of a touch up paint to cover curb rash on factory alloy rims? I'm not looking to sand down or make them perfect. I'd just like to touch them up so it is less of an eye sore and so that they are protected. Thanks in advance.

Go to a local body shop and ask them to mix some for you. It would be cheap to mix up a touch up sample. Your better doing this way.

Duplicolor and Wurth also make wheel touchup spray paint.

Thanks guys. The curb rash is not a big deal but I would like to make it look as best as I can with out a major effort or spending a lot of money. Do you guys have any other advise for me in this process?

This article ought to get you started.

I just took another look at my rims curb rash. It is so minor that I dont think I will spray it. I think I just have to find the right color paint and I will just use a brush. It will not be perfect but I doubt anyone will notice unless they are looking for it specifically.

Barry, that is a great idea if you want a good match, but in my experience body shop paint turns rock hard very fast. I have found Toyota Milenium Silver (2000 Toyota Celica) to be a very close match for most Euro wheels. Its about $5 for a bottle of duplicolor.

Thanks Yakky. I'd prefer to get some duplicolor if I can find a way to match the paint. My wheels are factory alloy wheels from Mazda. The strange thing is they look brand new. Even the wheel caps look brand new. There are 2 very tiny spots of curb rash and I think I made one of them. I wonder if they are new wheels or they were refinished. I'm planning on using a brush or a sponge to avoid over spray. I have to decide if I can trust myself to sand the 2 little spots without making things worse. :)

If you are worried about color matching, you can grab some mineral spirits or acetone and easily remove fresh touchup paint off factory coated wheels without causing damage to the finish. If there were re-sprayed, things get quite a bit different.

Thanks for the advice. They look so new. Maybe they were replaced or the previous owner was just really careful?

And, just in case this helps, the silver wheel colour from a 1998 Lexus may be close to what you're looking for has the universal paint code of 359D4. You can actually get cans of that made up.
