Does anybody have any experience dyeing floormats?

My old BMW 3 series has been without floormats for a while now so I finally bought a used set online. The seller called it an "interesting green color", but for $1 and $10 shipping, I figured "why not?" Besides, the pictures didn't make them look THAT green.

They came today. They're definitely green in color, and it's definitely an interesting shade of green. I want to dye the mats charcoal gray again, maybe even black. Any recommendations on how to do this? I saw some online carpet dye products for like $6 that come in liquid or aerosol form. Are these any good?

I have various aerosol dyes or carpet paint and they would not work very well for a total color change. They are meant for a carpet spot and can work ok, not great. I know " they" do sell a spray on liquid that will change the color, but it might be part of a business and you would have to find someone to do it. Not sure if you can just buy the liquid color and spray.

Get thee to a fabric store (JoAnn Fabric?)

Tell them what you need. They have a water based dye that is activated by table salt... expect to spra multiple coats over time.

May not be the perfect solution, but a suggestion. I was able to salvage a BLEACHED CRV cargo mat. In my case, it was this, or $150+ for a new mat. My client was ecstatic...

Curious as to the answer as well. I have a few blotches of bleached black carpet that need to be black again.

I've been busy (sort of) recently so I haven't pursued this as of yet. I don't mind the green carpets so much right now...
