Does #40 last longer than Vinylex? NE1 know!

Been a big time Vinylex user on my dash and interior vinyl

skin for years now. I had some #40 on the shelf so I tried some

and it looked very nice and very similar to Vinylex in presentation.



Anyone know if #40 lasts longer than Vinylex in the cars interior?

Or any other feedback on the the two of them in comparison.



Oh Yeah! Does 303 blow away both of these for the interior

or are they all basically in the same league?



Vinylex and #40 are very easy to get for me as they are near by.

I've used all three. My favorite is #40, I've never done any tests for longevity however. #40 last long enough to satisfy my tastes, provides the look I like on our S60 2.5T AWD and is a whole lot cheaper by the gallon then 303 or Vinylex.
 
#40 looks just as shiney as Vinylex.



A gallon of #40 around $24. sounds very attractive.





Plus I am going to play around with #38 trim & tire dressing

which I just purchased. I like it a lot but for me it may be

almost too thick. I am going to water it down a with a little #40 and see if I can get a consistency which I like for the tires and trim, etc.
 
Both are very good products. The one difference is that Vinylex is water based and dries to the touch. #40 is a solvent based product and always seems to have some residual oiliness.

Not criticizing either product but there are different properties. For years #40 was my favorite but recently I've been using some other products.

For the money # 40 is a very good product.
 
Wow I always pictured 40 as Megs' answer to AA or 303, etc.

Vinylex works great for interior surfaces like the dash and other interior vinyl. its not too effective on outside trim and tires because of its water based make-up. It will come off on the first or second rainfall. not very long lasting. I prefer using ERV dressing from One Grand products for the outside tires and trim plus all interior rubber and vinyl. excellent long lasting product that will never turn your tires brown.

There still seems to be a misconception about #40.

It is more of a cleaner than a dressing whereas 303 or Vinylex is really just a dressing.

If you use this on the trim without buffing off considerably - it will streak onto the paint - guarenteed!

That's why I purchased the #38. For the exterior.



For this thread though I was just concerned about the dash and

interior vinyl.
 
For the interior, the #40 has a very strong smell - which was Ok when I tried covering up smoke smells in the truck I purchased.

I wouldn't use it in the bimmer.



The 303 has a real nice matte finish and is less obvious than the Vinylex.



From that standpoint you may think that the Vinylex is lasting longer but I don't know if one is better from a duration standpoint.
