DODO Supernatural, Month 3!

Hello Guys,



This is the 3rd and probably final update on the DODO Supernatural wax, first applied here 3 months ago: http://www.autopia.org/forum/click-brag/106759-dodo-supernatural-results.html

Now for the 3rd month:



I think this is pretty much the end of product, its been washed mostly with Mothers California Gold and once or twice with DODO's own car wash. Neither of which contain wax or polymers which will play about with beading. Neither is a harsh wash that will effect or strip off the wax. Quickshine was used to the QD the car during drying with a MF drying towel.



Post wash, flooding the car takes sometime to sheet off the water (which wont happen all that well or quickly) and even then im not getting 50% of what i was getting 4 weeks ago.



About 2 weeks ago, the looks started to take a noticable down turn. Less glossy, less sharper reflections and alot less depth. Here is the beading just a day after washing the car, with no driving.

Probably for me, this is about the end of the wax. With the looks going too i will likely strip and rewax with something else. Slickness is non existant and even the side panels are not beading up very well.



DODO are releasing a whole new version of this wax (this week I think) which has 1% more Nuba. It looses the wooden box and the price is cut from £95 ($180USD) to just £65 ($120USD).



If you were considering buying/importing i would say hold on to get the slightly higher nuba content. It might make it a tad more durable and also slightly better looking?!



For me, in the UK market this makes it a much better looking option the Zymol Concours. However durability for me is no different and looks are similar.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Clearkote's Quick Shine adding a little protection each time it's used? If so, that could drastically sque your results.

-As far as i am aware it doesnt leave any sealant or waxe content. This is the same reason why its also called "clay lube" if you buy with the clay. It wont clog the surface or the clay!



-It has gloss enhancers. As you guess by the amount of rain on the car and it being London and PH value of rain water and water thrown up from the roads that even if it did leave anything behind it would be washed off pretty quickly!



- QS is applied, as mentioned to the car wet as drying aid. Most of it is wiped off when its wet, its just to ensure an extra step of protection when drying.



I dont think it could be compared to say QD+, Arcylic Spritz, UQD for example. Its like an intense version of Mothers Showtime if anything!

Looks great btw. But they are not losing the wooden box. They are just introducing the plastics also. The plastics however have 50ml less wax.

I have heard the wax lasts a good bit less then 3 months so i am happy with that. Is the car stored inside every night? Is it driven daily?

The car is parked outside 24/7 and is driven probably 2-3 times a week.



I heard that 3 months is about how far it goes so this would be about spot on. I have just washed it this afternoon and will see how it is in another week!



I did not know the plastic tubs were 50ml less, i still think its worth the £65!

Geoff, I wouldn't say it's gone yet. I agree, it may have lost most of its slickness and looks'



Sure, it's on its way but until it pools water I wouldn't give up on it.



I'd be interested to see how far it actually goes before it's dead.



I believe that most Autopians throw the towel in before it's time when judging durability. Too high standards. ;)

O absolutely! It is def worth the 130 dollars! I LOVE the wooden tub! Its so neat IMO. Plus you can get refills for the wooden tub.



Are you going to keep using SN or switch to concourse or something?

I wonder how long it will take to get fully finished.
 
When the sun shine in London it can be very nice, i wish it did it more! I went out and got some photos today with out any rain on the car. As the SN is passing it seems to be leaving a much more reflective finish then in the original posts (links above).



As you can see much of the gloss has gone but i think it would still leave a smile on your face.



The car looks darker in some photos, as in the above photos this is just when the sky is clear (atleast for few mins) the car takes on a more blue tone. When the clouds move in it starts to go more grey.



Alfisti: I agree its not done yet, i might leave it another couple of weeks. But certantly isnt the same as product it was say just 2 weeks ago or so.



baseballlover1: I might stick the SN, i will probably buy some at just £65. I know i might have one more sample product lined up to try.

FYI - Cleakote Quick Shine gives protection & extends the longevity of wax in addition to filling light swirls. Even though it's water-based, it will still stand up to a long, heavy rain storm without deminishing it's own beading/protecting properties.* Per Everette Glass, the owner of Clearkote.*
 
David Fermani: HA! I just soucred a similar answer though applying to a wet car diminish most if not all benefits. I should swap out a cheaper drying QD prehapes! :xyxthumbs



Alfisti: Well its got another week! I will see how it goes and maybe wait until drying is a total pain b/c it wont sheet. It might manage another 3 and bit weeks!
