DoDo no longer extinct in the USA

Recently I ordered some DoDo Double wax from the UK.



The hard wax was put on first and very little was used to apply a thin coat to the car. It was extremely easy to remove (much easier than Souveran, Lusso etc.)



The shine was very impressive after this coat (sorry np at the intermediate step)



I then waited overnight (approx 12 hours) before applying the second wax (the soft wax). Following instructions to allow the wax to cure. (what a novel concept...following instructions :p )



This is not a complaint of the soft wax, just an observation but the soft wax was not as "soft" as I expected. (I had thought it would have the consistency of PB wheel wax.)



The "soft" wax was again easy to apply and easy to remove. The finish and final look was amazing.



(Keep in mind this is just from an enthusiast and not one of you pros:nervous2:)

I would guess that its very easy to remove if easier then Lusso, which I thought was very easy to remove. I don't have a vast experience with applying and removing carnuba's.



How thin did you apply the lusso?

Nice work, :cool: i have a couple of slices of those "minty" twins ready to try. It looks like you made an expensive investment in what are generally run of mill products over here!



With regard the soft wax, your right its nothing like that powdery soft pleasantness you get with the blue Zymols, Carbon, Japon etc. that is just so smooth and lush to use. There claims of being better then products twice as much i think is aimed at those lower cost Zymol/PS/Swissvax products. Not of course Zaino!



I have tested some of the others looks were comparible to Nattys Red, but ALOT more money. They dont make a sensible USA import at the price they cost plus shipping.



Cant wait to try out the minty ones. Though at £78 having sampled some of the other products in the range there they have a bit of history to make for.



But you can be good at applying and get a good thin layer down and you will get a decent amount of applications per tub. Have you tried the Lime Prime as well?

BTW i have never any problems apply Souveran wax. Its one of the easist waxes to you use, gentle swipe with the app. pad it glides over the paintwork and you take it offer right away and with nice MF its great and easy!
 
i used dodo's purple haze on my car and was totally amazed. great reflection and slickness. this my ride with 2x cg's blitz and 2xdodo's ph.

Thanks David and Tim...(Tim saw the car as he was detailing a friends BMW 7 series).



The most interesting thing was the depth of shine with no muting of flake on the SLK55. (Thats the problem many of us have seen with Souveran for some reason)



I have learned from many here about the importance of applying thin coats of wax. People like David and Tim have been fantastic and I appreciate their information, patience and lastly (and maybe as importantly) their modesty.



I agree that Lusso is easy to remove but the Dodo was even easier, just a breeze.



Is it worth it? I don't know but it looks good and I hope eventually there is a distributor in the USA.



It would be interesting to see our more experience posters compare it to Zymol, Swisswax and the other high ticket brands...(David.. hint.. hint another test maybe?) Personally I think it will hold up to any of them.

When you're ready, bring it over and we'll spilt it down the middle with Do-Do & Zymol. I tried the Souveran you gave me on my black metallic Town & Country(similar to your Benz) and it muted the flakes too(it looked alot more solid that metallic). I used my Zymol Carbon and it was totally different (like tiny crystals were sprinkled all over the paint). :woot2:

Amongst many of the products i have they include Carbon and Japon (similar stuff) and Souveran.



I would agree with david to a point. I always look at waxes and feel that some give off a "thicker" not very sharp, even "fake" wetness, and it wasnt something i found with Souveran wax until i applied on a dark pearl. I did some of the car with Japon as i had just got it and the contrast was clear.



Souveran was very wet but it wasnt the same as Japon. Japon was like thin coating of clear ice on the car. Wet, sharp, reflective and with incredible pearl. The Souveran side was deep, looked "thick" so to speak, not so sharp and the pearl was not poping. The paintwork was rather glowing.



As per ususal with my dark pearls and mets RMG was the base after machine polishing.
